Explain a situation where it would be appropriate to use the ban command:
I'm gonna use an example of an fictional character: "not_John". Correlation with any real not_John are just coincidental
So not_John joines the server. not_John has accumulated
just about too many recent warnings, say 6.
A few rounds pass this not_John is has been acting mighty sus
spicyus.
And low and behold, mister not_John himself finds himself in a situation of getting himself reported by throwing random grenades everywhere, and
accidentally killing two AFKs.
Now the round has ended and i handle the RDM reports. I open a chat with not_John and whichever victim that reported not_John. I ask not_John why he was throwing random nades, and he basicly tells me to "f*ck off". I then conclude that not_John isn't willing to cooperate in the chat. And that i'm gonna have to trust the accuracy of damagelogs, and the victims story. Now the victim was AFK and returned to their PC dead, so they didn't see it happen. So this leaves me with the damagelogs saying that: an innocent fell to their death by being pushed by not_John using 'unknown weapon'. Just about 7 seconds after not_John threw a discombob
the builder
[Fast forward me looking through the damagelogs for the fifth time]
I have now concluded that not_John has commited RDMx2 by Random Grenades Throwing.
Now as a level 100 intellectual. I check not_John rapsheet for recents, rather than just warning him and calling it
job well done.
..
"
UWU What's this... 4, 5, 6 recents i see! ...Now the ban hammer is coming for you~ "
But first: I warn not_John for 'RDMx2 | Don't throw random grenades'. Then..
*
BONK* not_John just received a lump-sum total of 1-3 days long ban. For 'Too many recents punishments'. (not_John got 1-3 days because it was their first ban. But not_John probably got 3 days ban. Because they were recent warns; and that not_John probably didn't listen to the staff, when they told him what he did wrong, those 6 other times.)
Explain how you would handle the following situation:
Player x appeals their ban in great detail, apology and effort. You check the ban list and find that Staff Member x banned them permanently for Exploiting, and that this is their first ban. How would your response to the appeal be?
I would probably wait and see what the respondses are from the rest of the staff.
If no one is willing to make a responds, i would muster the courage to question the staff member myself.
It wouldn't be immediately after the appeal was posted or atleast i would make sure that the staff member had had reasonable time to read it. And refelect on whether or not their original judgment was correct or not. Whether or not i was there when the player was banned, i would ask the staff member for their reasoning for banning the player.
I guess that i would have to trust both sides stories, and based on the provided evidence, i would have to make a decision..
In the case that the evidence supports the players position, that:
The player was unfairly banned or
Have made a genuine apology that shows that the player has learned, and are sorry for exploiting.
I would have to accept their ban appeal.
In the case that the evidence supports the staff members position, that:
The player was fairly banned or
Have NOT made a genuine apology that shows that the player has NOT learned, and are NOT sorry for exploiting.
I would have to deny the players ban appeal.
Why I should be promoted (we recommend around 100 words):
I think i'm going
sorta good as a moderator. But I think i could do even better as an administrator; in terms of privileges, i could have the ability of taking the
steering wheel on a situation that is going somewhere bad.
I have become almost 100% confident in my reasoning and judgment when handling reports. idk if good or bad, but i like to open a chat with almost every report; as i think i can get to understand the situation better when doing so. And therefore reach a more accurate and reasonable final decision. (unless the logs tell the whole story)
