About me
My name is Morten, 23 years old & I live in Denmark. I'm currently working/studying as an "apprentice"/trainee as a Data Technician. I specialize in infrastructure (Servers, Networking, Hardware, etc.). I have some experience teaching IT as well (half a year). I currently live by myself in my own apartment and have been for the past couple of years while I’ve been on this education.
What makes me a good candidate
Experience
I know the rules quite well, I clarify them to users and staff when it’s required or try getting them changed/corrected if I believe it's necessary for the betterment of the server (by bringing it to the attention of the Lead Team). I've held multiple Lead Team positions in different communities throughout my time playing TTT these past 9 years. Collectively I’ve been a Moderator/Administrator for 6-7 months, Super Administrator for 8 months and Head Administrator for 2 within Zarp. Whilst holding any staffing position within Zarp I’ve never been abusive and therefore believe I’m very trustworthy.
Activity
In game I try to keep a consistent activity whilst fulfilling my staffing duties to the best of my abilities, although with that being said I tend to dedicate a lot of time on Lead Team related duties and my own little projects, such as creating tools for the staff team or improving and maintaining tools like the Spreadsheets, information thread, Onenote, Staff guides, etc. Because of this I may not always have the highest in game activity, but I’ll most likely have put at least double that into the community elsewhere.
I attend as many meetings as possible, and speak my mind on the applicants, but as a Super Administrator also try to give others the space and opportunity to talk, especially in the moderator and administrator meetings as I feel it’s important for the lower ranks to have the chance to speak their mind, nor do I not wish to influence their opinion unless I have some information that they do not have access to that may change their opinion on a given applicant. I am on TeamSpeak, Discord & TTT often to talk/interact with the community and to be contacted, although it has been a bit tougher to get on TeamSpeak than “back in the day” to get on as much as I used to since it's kind of dead on there most of the time now in comparison. I will obviously be on both Steam and Discord throughout most of the day to be contacted as well, following ongoing conversations and requests.
Forums
I’m active on the forums and check it as often as I can ~ multiple times a day. I don’t always post on each and every thread, mostly only when I feel like it’s necessary, when something has been left out and I can contribute as I feel it can be extremely unnecessary to needlessly post the same thing over and over, which is something that tends to happen.
When responding to applications I will thoroughly read their application and look into everything I can about them, (which I feel most people seem to stray away from) and give my honest opinion about them, what they can improve on and what they're doing right (activity, recent punishments, attitude, the application itself, etc.). I try to keep the negativity in my posts to a minimum an example of this would be the fact that I never use the “minussp” image, I do this to try to prevent people from getting discouraged, saddened or the like. This will hopefully make it so they can improve and therefore have a better chance of getting accepted. Obviously some people may take things in differently because they may not be able to take criticism or whatever, but I do not wish to sugarcoat my messages as that’s something I feel may cause more harm than good.
I’ve handled many appeals/report abuses both by myself & with other staff members. If the possibility for an administrator to handle one arises I will try to leave it open for as long as possible so they have the chance to gain some experience from handling one. When handling one myself I try to work closely with the people involved, when giving my outcome to an appeal or report abuse, I write my conclusion in detail to hopefully avoid any unnecessary confusion.
Attitude and behaviour
I’m a dedicated hard-working individual who takes his work seriously, trying my best to behave professionally while also trying to “keep things fun”. I have a good attitude towards others and my work, I always try to be kind and honest to other staff & players, I treat everyone fairly and equally. If there are any questions, I will always be helpful by answering to the best of my ability, whether they’re a staff member or a user.
I try my best to be mindful of others' opinions and not to be biased towards others or in anything I do, if something bothers you I encourage you to take it up with me. I’m very forgiving, and believe in second chances, if given the opportunity I will give the most lenient “punishment” possible.
How I wish to improve the staff team (My plans as a Head Administrator)
I will be as active as possible in all areas possible to ensure that I can keep a watchful eye on the staff team, because I believe that you cannot just sit around until an issue is presented to you. You need to be actively checking up on the team and take action when it’s needed.
I will continue to improve/make tools for the TTT community/staff team such as: OneNote, SpreadSheets (Lead Team & Meeting SpreadSheets), Guides (Training Guides for Staff Members, Staff Guides, etc.), reworking the TTT Information Thread, updating pictures, etc. almost whatever I can get my hands on really.
I still plan on actively sourcing out players on the server who I deem fit for staffing and try to push them into becoming staff, especially at times when there aren’t many applicants.
I will continue to help raise the standards of the TTT staff team as I’ve noticed a rather poor quality of staffing from individuals mostly regarding cheaters, bans and poor attitude, but not limited to that. I will reach out to them and try to get them to understand what they’re doing wrong and how they can improve if they don’t know. In short, I wish to help staff members reach their fullest potential and make sure they’re following our rules and policies. To go back to what I mentioned earlier I will do this by not only reacting when an issue is presented to me, but by actively checking up on the staff team in-game, if an issue is getting out of hand and there are multiple staff members making the same mistakes within a short period of time I will make an “announcement” about it on the discord server to bring it to everyone's attention. I believe that some staff members may look badly on getting corrected when they’re doing something wrong, but I’d like to point out that in the vast majority of cases the lead team is just trying to make sure that you’re doing things right and hope that you can improve from being told what you’re doing wrong.
At times there can be some rather lazy people within the Staff Team, who have a rather serious lack of enthusiasm as they will neglect their staff duties, if I notice this I will try my best to help kick them into gear, though if worst comes to worst, I will deal with them in a harsher manner. I feel this should and could be improved, specifically in regards to the Lead Team. This is something I believe that the current Head Administrators aren’t/weren’t doing good enough on and hope I can improve upon should it happen again.
I’d obviously be able to help with requests from fellow staff members such as removing falsely given punishments and application outcome replies after the meeting/meeting outcomes. I would be more capable of catching cheaters by having access to a better Anti-Cheat, I often find myself being the first Lead Team member if not the only one to the scene when there's a suspect on the server. As of late I’ve been noticing and hearing a lot of complaints regarding Head Administrators not coming on to Anti-Cheat when it’s being requested of them and I hope that I can change that.
I wish to create a Lead Team/staff team where everyone can work together as a team and communicate properly, all be on the same page, have a good understanding regarding rules and the way we handle things. As some of you may have noticed throughout this application I know that I’ve been focusing rather heavily on some of the more negative aspects of the staff team, but I’d also like to make it clear that I have tried my absolute best amd will continue to appraise the staff team whenever possible, as I believe that is also important to point out the good things they’re doing. In short my goal is to try my best to ensure everyone's having a great experience on the server, staff and users alike.
Thank you for reading my application (if you actually did),
any form of feedback would be much appreciated!
