How do you feel that your time as an administrator has contributed to becoming a super administrator:
I have been an admin for roughly 6 months, over my two periods of staffing. As well as this, I was fortunate enough to hold the position of Super Admin for four months before my resignation. During this time, it's safe to say that I have an excellent understanding of the rules, and the best ways to enforce them, sometimes being extremely harsh isn't the answer and its better to explain to users why they are in the wrong, resulting in them not making the same mistake again. Thanks to this, I've been able to help other staff members in situations where they are either unsure of how to deal with a situation or handle it incorrectly. I also know how to use essentially any command to benefit my staffing, as well as helping newer staff with understanding them.
My time as a staff member has also allowed me to gain good relationships with staff and users alike. This would make life as a super admin significantly easier as I would be able to communicate any and all rule changes or situations that are being handled correctly in an amicable manner to avoid any unnecessary disputes. Overall, my time as a staff member has greatly benefited me as a candidate for super admin as it has allowed me to gain a firm understanding of the rules and commands, and from my previous experience as SA, how to effectively handle disputes between staff members.
What makes you a good candidate for the super administrator team? ( in this part you can go as detailed as you want):
Experience
First and foremost, I have a great deal of experience when it comes to staffing. Although I am by no means the longest staff member or the highest-ranking, during my time as SA, I had successfully handled pretty much any situation that was thrown at me. Ban appeals, staff reports, cheaters, official warnings, demotions, trainings, essentially anything needed for a super admin, I have the experience of doing it. I was extremely trusted as my time as staff, and have never received any official warnings or demotions. I believe that I have shown that I can be trusted with this position, and have the necessary skills from my past.
Activity
Since my return to TTT, roughly 3 months ago, I have played practically every day and have only failed to play on a couple of days where I have been extremely busy. It's not only the fact that I have roughly over an hour every day, but it's also more that I spend my time on the server actually doing things. Whether that be handling reports, helping others to handle reports, generally interacting with the community and helping users with any questions they may have, for example why they were slain. Being active is extremely important as a staff member, however, I would argue, and many should agree, that it counts significantly more what is done throughout your time playing, as opposed to the number gametracker shows. Every week, I do try to obviously have fun, but to better the experience of the average player whilst I'm online.
TS
As for TeamSpeak, I am almost always on, even when I am not playing. This means that in the event of an appeal or just a general question, I am available to assist, and even if I am AFK, I will make every attempt to help out when I can. When I am on, I make every attempt to communicate with my fellow staff, sometimes about staffing matters and discussing the best way to proceed in a situation. But mainly it's just being friendly, and talking about random things. This further helps the relationship between the staff team, making life easier later on.
Forums
I am almost always on the forums, I won't always be posting, only when I feel it's needed. I make every effort to be constructive on people's applications, giving them my opinion on where they could improve, and on occasion helping them with templates, structure, steamid's, etc. Fortunately, there haven't been many appeals, but when there has, I have attempted to handle a few, and when I am either too late to handle or simply unable, I still give my opinion on the matter and with help with formatting and other basics. I am extremely confident in the process of dealing with appeals and punishment requests on the forums and this is also an area in which I have lots of experience from my previous time as super admin.
Attitude
Throughout the ZARP community, I will always behave in a professional manner when needed, there have been recent instances of staff being extremely disrespectful towards users, and I just don't see the benefit of this. Don't get me wrong, I am always down to have fun, especially when playing the server, I'm often joking around and being an idiot but when it is needed, I am able to act mature. An example of this is where a user complains that his punishment was invalid, unfair, or excessive. I can talk to the user and the staff involved to try and resolve the situation. Acting mature, and keeping a calm attitude is crucial in these types of situations as otherwise everything will become worse.
Friendliness
This somewhat goes hand in hand with attitude, but most people who know me would say that I am a friendly person. I'm extremely approachable, so if any staff member were to have a problem with another staff member, I would be there to happily help them out. If people were unsure of how they should act in a situation, then they would feel comfortable asking me for help, where they may feel too intimidated to otherwise. Also, I know my limits, when I am annoyed by something, I can just leave to avoid a conflict.
This is something else, I speak my mind. I'm still a nice guy, but I'm not scared to voice my opinion. If I disagree with you, I will tell you. I'm more than happy to hear your arguments for something, but if I still disagree I won't be quiet out of fear of annoying you. This may result in me being disliked by some, but IMO it helps to provide good rule changes and fair punishments.
Explain a situation as an administrator you encountered that was an obstacle that required the help of a lead team member but you had to work around it when no lead team member was available:
Recently, I've not really had any issues of such, there have been a couple of cheaters which I've reported to an SA. But particularly in the past, it was always difficult when a cheater was online. I would have to gather evidence whilst trying to punish them for breaking other rules until someone could come online. However, as said there have been no major issues with the staff team as of late where I would need the aid of a lead team member. Obviously there have been some minor mistakes, but nothing too serious.
Explain how you would review and handle an abuse report against another staff member:
Firstly, I would review the evidence that has been provided in the report, and if there was not sufficient evidence, I would inform the user that he needs to collect it otherwise I would deny the report. Once I had the evidence, I would review it and decide if I believed the staff member was in the wrong, then I would accept the appeal and subsequently bring them up in the lead team meeting. If I was to deny it, I would try to explain to the user why the staff member was not in the wrong and was acting correctly.
Explain in detail how you would act in the following situation:
A staff member bans a user for an excessive amount of time, how do you approach the staff member to ensure that everyone is treated fairly?
I would first ask the staff member why they banned the user, then I would check their rap sheet to see if they had prior bans that would warrant an increased ban length. If I deemed that the ban was excessive, I would ask the staff member to come on Teamspeak so I could speak with them about what the ban length roughly should have been and make sure they understand their mistake. There would be no need to take this further unless they continue to ban excessively after being warned.
Explain in detail how you would act in the following situation:
A staff member is dealing with a user but is struggling to do so in an appropriate manner. How would you resolve the situation?
I would speak to the staff member that is struggling and I would give them advice on how to handle the situation. I would recommend that the staff member doesn't get involved in situations where they become annoyed. It's always better to take a few minutes break and letting another staff member take control of the situation. This prevents people from inadvertently being biased and needlessly creating tension just because they are upset.
Explain in detail how you would act in the following situation:
A staff member accuses another staff member of breaking rules, how would you help resolve the situation?
As per usual, I would ask the accuser for any and all evidence that they had. Then, I would confront the accused and ask him if the allegations are correct, and would provide him with any evidence that I had been given. Depending on the seriousness of the situation, I would likely just explain to him that what he did wasn't allowed and that he needs to stop doing it. If it was rather serious, then I could emergency demote them or refer to a head admin to do so. Then I would bring them up in the next lead team meeting.
Explain in detail how you would act in the following situation:
A staff member acts in a disrespectful manner towards another staff member and or sparks an argument within the staff team. How do you resolve the situation?
I would ask the staff member to come onto TeamSpeak so I could speak to them. Then I would kindly remind them of the staff ethos and how they should always act nice and respectful to users as well as other staff members. If two staff members are disagreeing, I would suggest that they apologize to one another and if they cannot put their differences aside, they should try to avoid each other in-game.
Explain in detail how you would act in the following situation:
You spot a staff member breaking rules to the point of harming other users, how do you approach the staff member?
I would message the staff member instantly asking them to stop. I would try to explain the ethos and how they are expected to behave on the server. If they refused or ignored me I might emergency demote them depending on the seriousness of the offenses. Otherwise, I would gather evidence then proceed to report them in the lead team meeting.
Thanks for reading, and I would love to hear any feedback anyone has.
