How would you handle a TS3/Discord appeal?:
I feel that that ban appeals should be treated the same but in a slightly altered way on teamspeak as any other appeals.
For example, if a player were to be banned for being racist, my actions towards handling the player's appeal would be as follows:
1) Carefully read through the player's appeal to make sure that they're not mixing their story.
2) Get in contact with the banning staff member to confirm their story, or if possible, proof to confirm their story or contradict it.
3) Get input off of the banning staff member on whether they'd think the player should stay banned or be unbanned and their reasoning for what their opinion is.
4) After hearing out the staff members opinion, I then proceed to make a accurate response.
If the appeal is to be accepted then:
After discussing your appeal with the admin who has banned you, I have decided to remove your ban entirely. I expect you to no longer make racial remarks on our servers as it will result in you getting either a longer ban or a permanently banned once more. Make sure that you read over our server rules before you play on the server to avoid this happening again.
If the appeal is to be denied then:
After discussing your appeal with the admin who has banned you, I have decided to deny this appeal. You have been banned for racism and ignored all of the warnings that were given to you which lead up to this ban. I suggest you wait out your ban and take time to read over our server rules before returning.
Explain some of the administrative features of TS3/Discord and when they're used
appropriately:
Teamspeak
Ban client:
The ban client function is used to ban person from the teampseak server. In terms of when to use this function, a simple example would be if you've warned multiple times in a spoken manner, or even if they were kicked and still fail to comply with your instructions to stop breaking rules, it'd be a perfect time to hand out a ban towards said person.
Kick client from the channel:
The kick client function is used to kick a person from the current channel that they're in. In terms of when to use this function, a simple example would be if a person is being disrupting to yourself or others within the channel or furthermore, breaking rules, it'd be a good time to use this function towards said person.
Kick client from the server:
The kick client from the server function is used to kick players from the actual teamspeak server. In terms of when to use this function, a simple answer would be if a person is being constantly disruptive to others or continously breaking rules after being warned through a spoken manner or through being kicked from the channel not to continue. At this point, it'd be the perfect time to kick said person from the server.
Server groups:
The server groups function is used to alter a players group within the teamspeak server only. In terms of when to use this function, a simple answer would be if I were to be training a person for SSRP who've just been accepted. This command would allow me to change their group on teamspeak so that this rank is easily visible across different platforms rather tha just on SSRP.
Moving clients:
Moving clients function is used to move a person from channel, to channel. In terms of when to use this function, a simple answer would be when I am moving people into the meeting room for the SSRP meetings.
Delete avatar:
The delete avatar function is used to delete a person's avatar on teamspeak. In terms of when to use this function, a simple answer would be when a player is using a pornographic avatar, or more broadly, a avatar that breaks our TOS.
Discord
Roles
The server groups function is used to alter a persons role within the discord server only. In terms of when to use this function, a simple answer would be if I were to be training a person for SSRP who've just been accepted. This command would allow me to change their group on discord so that this rank is easily visible across different platforms rather tha just on SSRP.
Kick from server
The kick from the server function is used to kick a person from the actual discord server. In terms of when to use this function, a simple answer would be if a person is being constantly disruptive to others or continously breaking rules after being warned through a spoken manner or through being removed from the channel not to continue. At this point, it'd be the perfect time to kick said person from the server.
Ban from server
The ban from server function is used to ban person from the discord server. In terms of when to use this function, a simple example would be if you've warned multiple times in a spoken manner, or even if they were kicked and still fail to comply with your instructions to stop breaking rules, it'd be a perfect time to hand out a ban towards said person.
What would I do different with my new powers? (we recommend around 50 words):
There are a few things I'd do differently and they are:
Considering my role as a HeadAdmin on SSRP, I know that I've got a strong understanding on how to handle staff reports, so with my new powers, I'd be able to take care of another server within our community by managing our teamspeak/discord staff, to make sure that they're correctly moderating our server with a good attitude towards our players.
Again relating back to my role as a HeadAdmin, I know I've got a strong understanding on how to train staff members. So with my new powers, I would be able to effectively train new teamspeak/discord staff who may or may not be inexperienced in handling teamspeak/discord situations.
Finally, I want to use this position to help me understand how I can develop my leadership skills, which may lead to me potentially seeking a higher role in the community.
