Explain how you feel that your time as a moderator will contribute to you becoming an admin:
My time as a moderator has allowed me to gain experience in how to handle different situations, and also how to assist players as effectively as possible. It has also allowed me to properly learn how staff properly conduct themselves and their F1's from others. I have been able to handle hundreds of F1's, all giving me different experiences that I can use for my future of staffing. Also, due to previously being a staff member on SSRP I was able to conduct my job with little to few errors and missteps. All of these have contributed to my excellent knowledge of the rules, commands and how to handle any situation that may arise.
Explain a situation as a moderator you encountered that was an obstacle you had to work around (EG: defiant user):[/color]
I have many examples, but one obstacle I ran into was handling an F1 with a foreign speaking user, and I was the only staff-member on the server. However, using key words and a little bit of Google Translate I was able to complete the F1 professionally and to a high standard, with all users in the situation satisfied. I have also had plenty of times when I've had to call a Admin+ to ban a user as my commands were unable to respond to the situation in the best manner, such as multiple mass RDM's even after being kicked. It has allowed me to learn the way Admins+ conduct themselves and F1's, and also the best ways to keep the server and the users happy.
If you had to write a Facebook post to train a moderator in between 200-300 words, what would you say to give them the full grasp?:
Congratulations on being accepted into the Zarp Staff Team! Here are a few things to help you perform to the best of your ability:
Firstly I would recommend reading the
staff ethos in order to get an idea of how we operate within the staff team.
As a Moderator, you are able to:
TP (/tp, /goto, /back, /bring) - Teleport a player. There are many variatons to this command, such as /goto which teleports you to the player, or /bring which does the opposite and brings the player to you. /back allows you to teleport the player to their previous position after you are done with the sit.
Mute Voice (/voicemute) - Allows you to stop the player from using their microphone in-game. This can be useful in a variety of situations, such as: (mic)spam, racism etc...
Mute Chat (/chatmute) - Allows you to stop the player from being able to type messages in-game. This can also be useful for the very same reason stated in the voice mute command.
Slay (/slay) - Slay is able to kill a player using a variety of methods. It is useful as a punishment for minor rulebreaking such as acute NLR or some examples of RDM, as it still appears on their rapsheet.
Freeze (/freeze) - Freezes the player on the spot, making them unable to interact or shoot. This can be used if the player is running away from you / ignoring you, or if they are mid-rulebreak.
Warn (/warn) - This allows you to warn players after rulebreaking. It gives them the chance to re-read the rules, and is also added to their rapsheet.
Kick (/kick)- Kicking a player will remove them from the server. This is useful for when a user is constantly breaking rules even after being previously warned.
The F6 menu and Rapsheet - The rapsheet displays any warns, kicks, bans, slays, jails etc that the player has received.
Personally I find it key to allowing you to give players the fair level of punishment for their rulebreak. If a user has many recent punishments when caught then a more harsh punishment could/should be used compared to a user with a relatively clean rapsheet, who could just need a verbal. It also allows other staff members to see the general attitude of a player, so the punishments can assist other staff down the line if the user is caught rulebreaking again.
If you ever have any issues about certain rules, how to use commands etc... feel free to use the (@) Staff chat and ask other moderators, admins, SA's+. You can also use the Zarp TeamSpeak.
Most importantly:
have fun!
Explain how you would handle the following situation:
Player x appeals their ban in great detail, apology and effort. You check the ban list and find that another admin banned them permanently for prop-spam, and that this is their first ban. How would your response to the appeal be?
Hello Player X. After reading your appeal it appears you are very apologetic for your actions, and after looking at your rapsheet and discovering it was your first ban I have decided to accept your appeal. Please re-read the rules if you are unsure, and if you have any issues please feel free to contact a staff member.
Why I should be promoted(we recommend around 150 words):
After my month as a Moderator I have been able to experience many different staff situations that have been able to improve me as a staff member and as a player overall. Now, I feel I have matured and learned enough as a staff member to move onto the next step. I have genuinely enjoyed my time as a moderator and helping people, and with the Admin rank it will allow me to help users in many more ways. I am very active on both SSRP and the forums (apart from a recent 3 day inactivity due to power cuts and builders), and I feel I am very understanding and friendly, being good friends and working well with a large chunk of the current staff. I have really enjoyed my time with Zarp in general, and the people I've met. It means a lot to me, and I would very much appreciate some feedback.
Thank you for reading my Admin Application!
