Explain how you feel that your time as a Moderator will contribute to you becoming an Admin:
Although I will only have been Moderator for 1 week by the time of the meeting, I have tons of experience staffing on a variety of Zarps servers. I am comfortable with every ULX command I will gain as an Admin and I know exactly how to use them in order to punish rulebreakers and ensure the environment is fun for all players on the server.
Explain a situation in which it would be appropriate to use the ban command:
Banning will always be a last resort. There are few situations where a ban will actually be needed, the most common would be for recent punishments. If I encounter a player that has 10+ recent punishments I will explain to them that anymore rule-breaks of any kind will result in them being banned for 1-3 days (depending on how severe the situation is).
If you had to write a letter to train a moderator in between 100-200 words, what would you say to give them the full grasp?:
First of all congratulations on being accepted for Moderator. Before you begin staffing on the server, I will go through the commands you have and explain what they do and how you should use them. To start, you should bind a key to open the ULX menu. To do this, you can simply type "bind (key) xgui" in the console. Now if you press that key it will open up the menu and display all of the commands you have as Moderator.
Let's start will the chat tab, here is a list of the commands you have in there and what they do:
amute - This prevent people from using the admin chat. This will be used if users break any rule in it, for example spam or disrespect. To do this in chat, you can type !amute (name)
asay - users have this command so you should be familiar with it. It is used to send a private message that only admins can see. You can do this in chat by putting an "@" before your message.
psay - This is a private message that is sent to the specified player. This will most likely be used for when a player is rulebreaking. You can message them, making them aware that what they are doing is against the rules and ask them not to do it anymore. This can also be done by typing !p (name) (message).
gag - This command prevents a player from using voice chat. The common situations where this is used is when a player is micspamming or disrespecting. Be sure to put a reason for a gag so other staff members know what rule this player broke. You can do this in chat by typing !gag (name) (reason).
mute - Similar to gag, mute prevents people from using text chat. Again, this will most likely be used to stop a player from spamming or being disrespectful. It can be done in chat by typing !mute (name) (reason)
tgag - We recommend you use this command over gag. It does the same thing except it gives a specific time that the player will be ungagged. It prevents staff members from forgetting about a player being gagged, meaning they can't talk until the map changes. It is your choice entirely which command you choose to use. You can tgag by typing !tgag (name) (time) (reason)
tmute - We recommend you use this command over gag. It does the same thing except it gives a specific time that the player will be unmuted. It prevents staff members from forgetting about a player being muted, meaning they can't type in chat until the map changes. It is your choice entirely which command you choose to use. You can tgag by typing !tgag (name) (time) (reason)
Now that the chat tab is over, let's move onto the fun section. There are only two commands here, they are:
slay - This slays the targeted player. A situation where this will be used is if a player exploits and, for example, gets out of the map. In this case, you would need to slay the player for exploiting. To use this command in chat, you can type !slay (name) (reason). Again, it is extremely important that you actually put a reason.
sslay - This silently slays the targeted player, meaning no message appears in chat (although other staff members can see the message). There is no real reason to use this over the normal slay command but if you feel the need to, you can do so by typing !sslay (name) (reason)
Next is the teleport section. There are 3 commands in this section that are mainly used for then you, or another player is stuck. These commands are:
bring - this brings a player to your current location. This will be used when a player is stuck on the map. You can do this command in chat by typing !bring (name).
goto - Opposite to bring, this command takes you to the targeted player. This can be done by typing !goto (name).
teleport - The final command in the teleport tab. This moves the targeted player (including yourself) to the position where your cross-hair is. Again, the most common situation where this will be used is when a player is stuck but you are dead, meaning you can't use the bring command. You can use this command in chat by typing !tp (name).
The final section in the ULX menu is Utility. These commands are:
kick - This is self explanatory, it kicks a player off of the server. There are very few situations where this will be used and the most common I can thing of is if a player exploits after you tell him not to for the first time. You can do this by typing !kick (name) (reason)
friends - This is a useful command for if you believe players are ghosting with eachother. Although this isn't much proof to go off of, it will display the targeted users friends if they are on the server at the time. You cannot use this command in chat you, if you ever need to, you'll need to use the menu.
And that is it for the ULX menu.
Moving on, you also have access to the "move to spectator" command. This moves the targeted player to the spectators team. This can be used on AFK players. To use this command, you need to open the tab menu, click on the AFK players name, and select move to spectators.
You also have access to the rapsheet. To open this, you can press f6. Once you select a player, you will see all of the punishments that player has received. This is more useful for admins as they can ban users that have a lot of recents, you can still use it to find out if a player is a big rulebreaker, meaning your punishments on them can be a little harsher. Finally, you can press f2 which opens up the reports menu, as you should know by now. If you click the "Admin" button, it opens up a new window. This window displays all of the current reports. If you click on the report you can "Claim it". This displays a message to all staff members and avoids them from taking that report. Once you have dealt with the situation, you can "Finish" the report, which removes it from the menu. I recommend you check this menu regularly to ensure that all reports are handled.
To end this "Letter" I will go through a few "Top Tips" that will make your staffing experience on the server much more efficient.
1 - With many of the commands listed above, you can use the "@" symbol to target whoever you are looking at.
2 - Never punish other staff members. If you think they are doing something wrong, you can report them to a higher up.
3 - The minimum amount of activity you need as a staff member each week is 2 hours. Make sure you play over this amount each week to avoid demotion!
4 - Users will look up to you on the server as you are staff. Because of this, it is important that you keep calm and respectful at all times, although the occasional banter is fine.
5 - This is an obvious one, don't use your powers on a user for no valid reason.
And that is all. Once again congratulations on becoming staff, if you have any questions, add me on
steam and I will help in any way I can. Have fun staffing!
Explain how you would handle the following situation:
Player x appeals their ban in great detail, apology and effort. You check the ban list and find that you banned them permanently for Cheating, and that this is their first ban. How would your response to the appeal be?
I can't ban for cheating but I'll do with it anyway
Hello Player X. I have read over this appeal and can see that you are sorry for you actions. I have decided to lower you ban to 1 week. During this time, I recommend you read over the server
rules to ensure you don't break them again. If you are caught hacking again you will have a much harder time of appealing it, see this as your only chance.
Why I should be promoted (we recommend around 100 words):
I should be promoted because, although I'll only have been Moderator for 1 week by the time of the meeting, I have been staff on many of zarps servers, including having LT positions. I am currently Deathrun Head Administrator so I have lots of experience with using ULX and I am aware of how to handle many situations I will encounter whilst playing on the server.
