Explain how you feel that your time as a moderator will contribute to you becoming an admin:
My time as moderator has contributed a great deal to my decision to apply for admin. During my time as moderator I learned how to properly use my powers in order to keep peace within the server so that everyone can have an enjoyable experience while playing. Becoming admin will allow me to have the ability to take further action against users who are consistently problematic.
Explain a situation as a moderator you encountered that was an obstacle you had to work around (EG: defiant user):
Yesterday I had the displeasure of dealing with 6+ people by myself who were extremely determined to scream “DO U KNO DE WAE” in voice chat. Upon muting these players they proceeded to spam the text chat, at which time they were met with a mute. I started each off with 1 minute mute then extended it to 5, then to 10 due to the fact they continued to act out after their mutes expired. After muting a few indefinitely some left the server and rejoined and continued again, I kind of felt powerless because what I really needed to be able to do was ban the players who continued after being punished and warned numerous times. I’m personally not a fan of having to ban people because it takes away from their experience a server and it also takes away from other players experiences because they're not able to play and interact with that guy, but sometimes people do need to be punished for their actions when things get out of hand.
If you had to write a letter to train a moderator in between 100-200 words, what would you say to give them the full grasp?:
Hey man, congratulations on the acceptance of your application and welcome to The Surf Staff Team. Your job as Moderator is pretty simple and shouldn’t cause you a lot of stress because unlike SSRP we don’t have a ton rules, all you really need to do is keep order in the server and make sure people don’t fly off the handle. If you press tab and click on a players name you’ll see you have a few commands such as
Mute Chat, Mute Voice, and Kick.: The powers themselves are pretty self explanatory, but if you click on Mute Chat/Voice you’ll notice that there are different durations you can select for the players mute. I’m sure you already know this, but be sure that the players punishment fits the crime, so don’t be going and muting someone indefinitely for breaking a rule like Micspam or Disrespect once, and don’t forget to always give a player a verbal warning and give them a chance to stop doing whatever it is they are doing before handing out a punishment. Overall I think you’ll enjoy being on the staff team, if you have any questions feel free to ask me or any other staff member and we’ll be happy to help you out!
Don’t forget to come to the meeting every friday at 9:00PM CST!
Explain how you would handle the following situation:
Player x appeals their ban in great detail, apology and effort. You check the ban list and find that you banned them permanently for Cheating, and that this is their first ban. How would your response to the appeal be?
Hi X, I accept your apology and thoroughly appreciate the fact that you actually took the time and effort to make this well written ban appeal. Per Zarp policy I had kicked you previously as a warning because you were hacking, I then caught you hacking a second time which is what lead to me to giving you a permanent ban. While I do accept your apology I do think that you should be punished for your actions; however, I have no intention of ruining your experience here at Zarp. Seeing you have only been banned for a total of 24 hours as of now,
I will lower your ban from Permanent to One Week. You are of course free to appeal my decision, but I personally do feel that I have been extremely fair in the handling of your appeal.

Why I should be promoted (we recommend around 100 words):
Since I returned in August from my 5th Community Ban I feel I have done a lot to prove myself as a contributing member of this community, I went from being an FP(May it rest in pieces) fanboy who absolutely loathed Zarp to being someone who really enjoys being here. Before my last Community Ban it was pretty hard to make friends and get involved because the whole “Massive Asshole” personality people loved(and feared) me for at FP didn’t fly here, so when the Community Team decided to unban me I decided to take a different approach this time around. While of course I may still be a little bit of an asshole, I know many of the people who knew me prior to my return can say easily that I’ve come a long way and that the old me would have easily been CM banned within a week, but its been almost 7 months.
The progress I’ve made since coming back aside I feel like I would be an excellent candidate for promotion. The day of the meeting will mark two months since I’ve become moderator on the server. The main reason I haven’t applied sooner is because for about a month my activity was pretty low because I elected to leave my computer in my dorm over winterbreak when I went home due to the fact that I was taking two accelerated classes which shove a semester's worth of work(15 to 16 weeks) into a short 5 weeks. Despite that I tried my best to get an hour or so of activity, and I’m pretty sure I was able to do it most of the time besides maybe two weeks out of the time I was gone. Even though my activity was low I did make it a point to show up to the meetings and give my vote on applications and server suggestions, and missed only one meeting during this time and it is the ONLY one I have missed my entire time as staff.
Another reason I haven’t applied is because I don’t want to come off as power hungry because I am not even remotely close to being power hungry. I’m not like many of the people who get a rank then immediately apply for a promotion, I like to take the time to show those who will eventually vote on my promotion application that I am a capable as a staff member, that I am dedicated to my position, and that when I apply for a promotion it's because I am ready and I deserve it. I feel overall I have done very well as a moderator on the server and I am ready to handle the powers and responsibilities of becoming an admin.
