So, uh, hey everyone! Just in case you're not all that familiar with me, I'm Raeker, a Teamspeak and TTT Head Administrator, as well as forum staff in two sections including this one, General Discussion. As you're all very much aware, Para recently made this post asking people for their opinion on how they believe we should treat hackers in this community.


As you can tell, the vote is currently very one-sided.


Around ~75% voted that hackers should instantly be permabanned when we find out that they are using third party tools to gain an advantage over other players, whilst ~25% have voted that they should be kicked first. Note that if people get kicked that's only a temporary measure, to warn them that we do not appreciate their ways of playing. If we find them again they'll get permabanned, which is currently the hacking policy on all of our servers.

Now I will not tell you what my opinion is on the matter, though I'm sure that if you look far enough in that thread you will find one or more comments stating what I think about everything. However, I will tell you one thing:

Kicking someone or permabanning them are two entirely seperate courses of actions.

One might seem a little soft, whilst the others might seem a little harsh to some people. However the latter group of people will most likely have the following mindset: would you rather have that people that break a rule get properly punished, or would you want them to be kicked and still having a chance to continue on their ways?

That particular group of people will still vote for a permaban, even though they might not believe that to be the right course of action. This new, unofficial poll is for those people: out of the three following options, what do you believe is the policy our community should take?

1. Kick on their first offense, permaban on their second offense
2. A month ban on their first offense, permaban on the second offense
3. A permaban on the first offense

Anyways, sorry for making you all vote again - I'd just like to see whether or not my theory is right and this will make more of a difference on the vote. Maybe it won't and I'm wrong to believe that the group of people that would like to see an instant permaban when dealing with hackers on our server is a lot smaller than it might seem.

Personally, don't see why hackers who ruin the game should be given any chances.

Option 2 is definitely the best and fairest

I hate hackers as they ruin others fun just to have some selfish fun.
But I also like giving people chances so that is why I picked option 2 as it seems to be the best(for me).

Looking for more votes, people!

Second option for sure, hackers deserve a second chance after they had time to think about it. (Such as myself)

Therapist wrote: You mean appeal? You can always appeal. Even now, when you're community banned or forum banned, you can still appeal it - the same would go for hacking, and there won't be any exception cases.

Whether it'll be accepted is a different matter altogether, but you can always use the appeal system that we have in place.

TBH why should we give someone multiple chances when they are purposely going out of their way to find cheats that detour or are undetectable to avoid getting punished.

WHY on earth would we give people chances if they are purposely trying it's not even, Ohh ok i'll stop, or it was for fun, they are paying for cheats just to not get caught, which clearly shows no interest in the community.

In my opinion, they should get perma banned straight up when caught, then have the chance to appeal, after a period of time, such as 2-4 weeks.

option 2 is the best!

This third option made more of an impact than I thought it would. However, only 50 people have voted, which is 110 less people than on the original poll. I'd like for this to be as representative of the community as it could possibly be, so if you could please get your vote in that'd be greatly appreciated.

Option 2 is deffinately the farest option, It gives real players time to reflect on mistakes. People who only join to hack and make a negative impact will recieve the month ban and continue their cycle on a different server.
This is a really good way to have a mid ground for the current system and perma on first offence options!

deffo option 2 and if they didn't mean it they appeal for a unban
