1: World of Tanks
Before you storm off because you think I love this game too much and I'm biased, please, hear me out. I'll try to be unbiased.
Genre: Despite what many people think, it's not a full on action game, it's split between action and strategy.
Performance If you've got a mid-tier PC, it can run pretty well, potato PCs can run it as well, as my Uncle plays it every day on a PC from 1998, anything higher than mediocre can run the best graphics with a minimum of 60 FPS, and believe me, the game is really pretty.
Similar Games: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO is also an action game, with a lot of strategy elements.)
Armored Warfare (Basically the same thing as World of Tanks, only difference being World of Tanks has tanks from the I world war to the early cold war.)
Strengths of the game: Is very diverse, and interesting to dig into.
The action elements are done nearly perfectly
Nearly no bugs to speak of
Has many different strategies, that make players who actually think the best ones in the community.
Weaknesses of the game: Relatively cancerous community (However, can be avoided very easily)
Isn't very noob-friendly
Takes quite a while to learn all the different strategies and stuff. There are over 500 tanks, so to get used to all of them is nearly impossible as every tanks manages somehow to be different. There are also a lot of different game mechanics that are relatively confusing.
Has some P2W elements, however, aren't as effective as in other games
Description:
World of Tanks is an Action/Strategy game for PC, with over 110 million players, that features 520 tanks, from 8 different nations. Players grind their way from tier I to tier X, using training tanks that are literally armored tractors, to using behemoths of tank engineering at tier X. It features tanks that were used in real life, prototype tanks, modified tanks, and even tanks that were only in blueprints. There are five different types of tanks:
- Light Tanks / Scouts
These tanks are designed to be fast, speedy, with an amazing viewing range. They can spot most of the enemy team in the instant, making them easy pickings for your teammates. Beware, however, their guns aren't always good, and their armor is terrible.
- Medium Tanks:
The most diverse tanks. They are good in everything. Think of a Medium Tank as a Jack of all Trades. However, there are some exceptions.
- Heavy Tanks:
Tanks that have massive slabs of steel to protect them, alongside gigantic guns to devour the enemies. They are normally the spearhead that breaks through enemy lines. However, they are the most unmaneuverable of the bunch. Beware of Artillery and Light Tanks.
- Tank Destroyers:
"Hidden Assassins" is the best way to describe tank destroyers. Their guns are by far the best in the game. However, they should ALWAYS be kept at the back, sniping the enemies from afar. They normally have terrible armor. However, their guns are so perfectly amazing, that they are the bane of most heavy tanks.
- Artillery:
Even bigger guns than the Tank Destroyers, and even more fragile. Most Artillery hides at their base, going into their top-down view of the map, and sniping the enemy team one by one, as they watch the enemy team burn in flames. However, their health and armor is so bad, that any tank in the game can practically kill them. And their accuracy is the worst in the game by far. However, they are insane. Beware of artillery, and if you are artillery: Beware of Light Tanks.
The 8 nations consist of:
- The Soviet Union
- The United States
- Nazi Germany
- The United Kingdom
- France
- The Japanese Empire
- China
- Czechoslovakia
The Soviet Union:
The Soviet Union is the most popular tech tree to grind out in World of Tanks. It mostly features tanks with great armor, and gigantic damage-dealing guns. It is a very noob-friendly nation, as it's tanks can decimate other tanks with their damage dealing capabilities.
The United States:
The good ol' USA is quite a fun country to play as. Most of it's tanks are very diverse in nature, and are suited for all players. However, they aren't as noob friendly, as it takes quite a bit of learning to get the hang of them.
Nazi Germany:
Ah yes, the masters of tank engineering, Nazi Germany is, in my opinion, one of the least noob-friendly nations, as their tanks take technical prowess to master. Their tanks aren't focused on brute force, but rather reliability, DPM (Damage Per Minute), accuracy, and diversity.
The United Kingdom:
The United Kingdom has very similar tanks to the USA. Hell, some of the tanks that the UK has to offer are literal copies of some of the US tanks. But damn it, it doesn't mean they're ineffective, as they sport a very diverse, and capable arsenal. You can kill things with one shot using your FV 215 (183)b, to decimating everything whilst bouncing everything in your Matilda, to being everyone's invisible nightmare with the Centurion I. Amazing country.
France:
The French Tanks, are in my opinion, the hardest country to master, but people who master French tanks are like demi-gods. They have the weakest armor in the game, but by far the strongest guns alongside the best mobility. If you think you're up to the challenge of being an expert player in WoT, go for this faction, as good players using French Tanks make the enemy team rage quit.
The Japanese Empire:
Japanese tanks are limited to only two branches to grind. Which are Medium Tanks and Heavy Tanks. However, their Heavy Tanks are so good that some of them are blatantly OverPowered. Their medium tanks, are similar to French Tanks, no armor, but amazing in literally everything else. Great faction, do not mess with these guys.
China:
The Chinese are similar to the French, not because they have bad armor, but because they have one major weakness, but having amazing stats in everything else. The Chinese have the worst gun depression in the game (Which is how much you can lower your tank's gun, which, believe it or not, is a really important thing with tanks), but having literally amazing statistics with everything else. Their turret armor is damn near impossible to penetrate, even when using premium rounds, and have insane guns. Though, again, their tanks are restricted to two branches to grind, just like the Japanese. And just like the Japanese, they only have Medium Tanks and Heavy tanks to grind.
Czechoslovakia:
The Czech tanks are the newest tanks in the game, and have only one branch to grind out, which is a Medium Tank Line. They are like the French tanks, however, they actually have decent armor. Beware the Czech Tanks, they are amazing.
