Honestly, there is not much risk just be careful when going to lures or gym battles. I'd read up on all the articles about the bad stuff before using it properly

Its fun to play and if you know the area around you you should be good

and you can catch alot just by sitting at home

you don't need to go inside anywhere you can pokeball pokemons from so far away and you can get them poikeballs from 20 :meters away aswell
