Aaaaand second giant post! Here, have a good anime, Here, have a bad anime. Lots and lots of anime (disclaimer: only 5 in this new post).
Since people seem to enjoy my sacred tactic of learning people into anime by "writing a huge-ass post, have everyone who barely read it appreciate my work, my blood and my tears, and thus take control over all the anime-watchers in the thread". It worked.
This time around, I decided to go for the more intellectual shows. Actually, I would argue that 3 of the shows I listed before are quite intellectual, but I digress. There are some action shows in this, even if they aren't labeled as such, but this is more of a battle of the minds than with fists. Because that just gets boring after a while.
Since I wasn't clear enough with what I meant with "Don't watch anime like <em>so, so and so</em>", here's a small list of well-known anime that get all the high scores, despite it being shit. Just like movies directed by Michael Bay. Basically, people praise them as masterpieces because they a) haven't watched a lot of anime and really liked said anime (completely ignoring all the bad things about it, like a million and one plotholes), or b) simply like anything as long as it has decent animation, gore, violence, tits and a decent soundtrack. Surprisingly, most fall under the latter reason.
Mirai Nikki
Sword Art Online
Highschool of the Dead
Tokyo Ghoul
Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei
Dragonball
Naruto
Bleach
One Piece
Fairy Tail
Ofcourse, there are many more, but if you want full confirmation on whether or not a show is one of those, you can always look up a couple of reviews or ask me.
Mushishi
<em>Genres: Adventure, Fantasy, Historical, Mystery, Seinen, Slice of Life, Supernatural</em>
Synopsis:
"Mushi": the most basic forms of life in the world. They exist without any goals or purposes aside from simply "being." They are beyond the shackles of the words "good" and "evil." Mushi can exist in countless forms and are capable of mimicking things from the natural world such as plants, diseases, and even phenomena like rainbows.
This is, however, just a vague definition of these entities that inhabit the vibrant world of Mushishi, as to even call them a form of life would be an oversimplification. Detailed information on Mushi is scarce because the majority of humans are unaware of their existence.
So what are Mushi and why do they exist? This is the question that a "Mushi-shi," Ginko, ponders constantly. Mushi-shi are those who research Mushi in hopes of understanding their place in the world's hierarchy of life.
Ginko chases rumors of occurrences that could be tied to Mushi, all for the sake of finding an answer.
It could, after all, lead to the meaning of life itself...
Trailer/Openings:
<em>(Note that I used an AMV that pretty much gives you an idea of what Mushishi is instead of a trailer or Opening)</em>

Trailer/Openings:
Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya
<em>Genres: Action, Comedy, Fantasy, Magic, Shoujo Ai</em>
Keep in mind that Shoujo Ai means that there are Lesbian undertones in this anime. You can watch the first season just fine, but second season is when this starts kicking in. You've been warned, even though this anime is pretty amazing regardless of it being there.
Synposis:
Features Illya as a main character where she's living an alternate life as a school girl. However, she is chosen by the Magical Stick Ruby and is involved in a quarrel between Rin (Kaleido Ruby) and Luvia (Kaleido Sapphire)
NOTE: This is an example of what I said in the earlier post about the synposis only covering a fraction of the story. This is literally a synposis of the first episode, but it gets a lot darker than the typical Mahou Shoujo anime like Sailor Moon or whatever. The second Opening shown below might give a slight idea about how dark it is, even though it hasn't even been adapted till the darkest and best parts yet.
