I am finally starting to build my PC and some of the parts have arrived.
![]() Still waiting on the case and CPU... I will get the GPU later on when I can afford it, I just need a new PC now. At least it will run better than my laptop and I am still saving for Windows and the SSD but like I said I just need a new PC. I am going to run Linux (Ubuntu, Just because it's easier) on it until I buy Windows because you can still play GMOD and CS:GO on Linux, I can't wait. ![]() PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i5-4690 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (£169.99 @ Amazon UK) Motherboard: MSI H97M-G43 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (£66.99 @ Amazon UK) Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£41.89 @ Amazon UK) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (£47.39 @ Amazon UK) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£39.91 @ Scan.co.uk) Case: Cooler Master N200 MicroATX Mid Tower Case (£28.60 @ Amazon UK) Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (£38.99 @ Amazon UK) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 OEM (64-bit) (£75.21 @ Amazon UK) Total: £508.97 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-07-14 12:30 BST+0100 |

Here's your issue. Source games on Ubuntu (even though they're supported and claimed to be as good as windows) have the stability of an overly drunk man doing a sobriety test on a tight rope.
Gmod has some terrible issues. Constant crashing due to "out of memory" when I assign it 16 FUCKING GBS OF RAM Ubuntu is good if you're a technophiles who likes to be closer to the hardware, a programmer, or a cryptonut. It's hard to use and learn. Support is dodgey and not everything works out of the box. That being said Linux is powerful. I'm using lubuntu on my 7 year old laptop and uses 1% CPU idling. You have FULL access to your PC. If you want to remove everything without any prompt to warn you, you can. Upgrade to windows 10 |

Upgrade to windows 10 I will be once it comes out anyway and am considering just installing Windows 10 preview on it for 3 weeks before I can buy Windows but I've tested on a VM and it doesn't seem that stable but that's probably because I'm running it on a not very powerful laptop in a VM, Not a great idea I know and I have used Ubuntu before, I'm not going in to this not knowing about it. Personally windows 10 has been extremely stable.
Also don't use fucking unity, I will end you. We need to get Ubuntu back to gnome or personally cinnamon (cross between windows and gnome, I love it). Perhaps try lubuntu or mint (both amazing compared to Ubuntu) |
