TOPIC: Hardware upgrading

Hardware upgrading 8 years 10 months ago #149823

Hello, i was thinking about upgrading mine "old" computer...

Which have this specs:

MotherBoard: intel-d975xbx
Processador: Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 (2M Cache, 2.13 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)
Graphic Card: Asus Radeon HD6670 1GDDR5 (old Asus GeForce 8600GT)
Ram: Something 2 GB DDR2 x 2

And i was thinking about getting a new cpu, so it will force me to get a new motherboard and ram :3. But i dont have that money so i was thinking about buying the things with time...

The specs than i was thinking

MotherBoard: Asus M5A78L-M LX3 (90-MIBI40-G0EAY0GZ) / 52,90 € (cuz is the most cheaper xD)
CPU: AMD FX 6350 3.9Ghz BE SkAM3+ (FD6350FRHKBOX) / 139,90 € (could be the FX 4300 but... this one seems being better)
GPU: MSI R9 270 2GB (R9 270 GAMING 2G) / 179,00 € (cuz is cheaper than an asus) or Asus R9 270-DC2OC-2GD5 (90YV04X0-M0NA00) / 195,90 € (because it's asus xD)
RAM: Kingston HyperX Savage DDR3-2400MHz 4GB (HX324C11SR/4) x 2 / 39,90 € x 2 (cuz this computer have 2 rams so why not getting 2 rams too? xD... plus red one? ^^)

Looks good to me bro, I'd go with Nvidia, but if you're on a budget, go for AMD.

I think that upgrade looks great ! I'd advise to start with CPU/MB/RAM, and do'nt listen those saying "Go Intel", I've got big ass Intel GPU but it's good if you want high shit, this AMD CPU is just great, and cheap ! :cheer:
The GPU isn't really "great" I'd say to go more like a 285 or something maybe.

I'm late? Really... Damn work and yesterday i didnt even remembered about going here to reply xD

Well i was exactly thinking about buying the CPU first, then the MB and Ram... Well i just want a computer for gaming or kinda for gaming.. But it needs to be cheap... if i didnt wanted to it be cheap, and if i had money.. i would make an intel/nvidia build :)

So like i dont have that money i will try to make an AMD build ^^

I exactly had 4 Nvidias GPUs... Litteraly... 2 on mine older desktop, 1 on mine laptop and ended up having an desktop with nvidia but i traded with AMD... Plus the AMD Radeon R9 seems really cool :D

Also mine brother already had 2 computers with nvidia...

Are you being serious ? He talked about cheap budget and he'd go for a 4690K ? I've got a 4690K and I don't even use it fully, a FX8350 would be clearly enough for him if he could afford it. Same for graphic cards, Nvidia is just way too expensive for the difference with AMD. (I'm sure I'm replying to a troll but uugggh fuck me C: )
if i had money.. i would make an intel/nvidia build
I'm on a intel/amd and I don't really understand why I chose intel to be honest, but still intel is cool yeah but I don't understand why the more money you have you should go for intel/nvidia.

Well Nvidia is in the most cases better than AMD.
So I always suggest buying an nvida instead of AMD, especially when he doesnt give many informations about his budget.

If he's going to buy a new PC or upgrading it completely, he should invest some money for quality.
Or else he has to buy a new one again in 2 years If he goes for the cheap ones.

What do you mean by "better" ? If you mean having bigger GPUs with more power then yes, actually I think Nvidia's beats AMD with its 980.
But doesn't mean AMD isn't good quality and I believe most of gamers don't really need a 980. Unless you go for a 980 I'd always advice for AMD as it's cheaper and does what needs to be done. And there's quality.

I agree that AMD has good graphic cards and they're often cheaper.
I'd still go for Nvidia, pay some more and you can run new games in a few years in highest settings.

If he's buying only the cheapest things for his PC, he'll have to upgrade his PC again soon.
He just has to invest some more money once.

Mmh, I don't really agree about this. Differences between high end cards of actual AMD and Nvidia aren't that big. Actually, the R9 295x2 is at the price of a 980 and is way more powerful.
Getting a 980 won't let you play games more than having a 290x. It will be shit in two years already as for R9 290X (but R9 are a bit old now).
Nvidia or AMD, he'll have to upgrade if he chooses something cheap. I've got a 280X and I don't think I'll have to upgrade soon.
