Why is it that staff are the only ones that can change the section.of posts?

i think I understood you wrong, do you mean by changing the section of your own posts or of every post in general ?
If you mean every post then this question is very similar to : Why is it that staff can only tp and not users. But if you meant your own post then it is your fault, you should've checked what section you were posting it in before posting. |

It would be handy for people to move their own threads into different sections, but as Walrus has already mentioned, people could easily abuse this power by possibly spam moving their thread or continuing to move it into another wrong thread which could possibly lead to a punishment ( I could imagine that sanctions would be put in place for those who troll with the move thread function ). So I guess the main reason is the Community Lead Team don't want people who are possible distrusted moving their threads and want someone a lot more familiar with the Forum Rules to do it instead, this way we/they won't have to deal with rule breakers minging with the function.

Becuase you should put it in the correct section when you make it. If you cant figure that out, then there is no way you would be able to figure out how to move it later down the road.
