TOPIC: A chat about "Ebola"

A chat about "Ebola" 9 years 6 months ago #72540

As you may already know, a deadly virus named Ebola has struck an area in Africa, although it has been around for many years, it has come to people's attention that this virus is now spreading quite rapidly and very dangerously... yet people take this as a joke.

The virus may not have killed many people comparing to other diseases and viruses, but it sure is killing a lot of them quite fast, including animals.

My point being is many people do not take this quite seriously which is in their decision, but in my opinion it's not a reason for them to make jokes about this.
I have seen many memes of it and have heard many jokes about it at school and even on the darkrp server.

I would like to hear your opinion about this deadly virus as I'm sure many others think differently about this.
Keep in mind that this is only a chat about it!

There's no need to joke with any disease. It proofs you're immature if you're doing so.

Hopking is right, it requires the exchange of bodily fluids with someone who is infected, and even in places such as west Africa it isn't that common, there have been about 2200 deaths in west Africa this year from Ebola, in comparison to malaria and HIV/AIDS its no where near there largest problem right now.

And it isn't going to become as bad as those other diseases. Ebola has been coming and going to centuries, every few decades there is an outbreak of it, it just due to the chaos theory we cannot predict exactly when the next outbreak will occur, but Ebola has been around for centuries as a disease, if it was truly as dangerous as people are making it out to be, humans would be extinct years ago.

So far I partially agree with all of the statements; it may just stop or slow down after a few years at the most. Though it is the fact that this virus is spreading much faster this time comparing to other times. I do agree that malaria and HIV/AIDS are one of the largest problems at the moment, but there are still chances that this virus could possibly spread farther this time, though the chances are quite low.

No, it requires infected bodily fluid to enter through an orifice. It's not an exchange whatsoever. If an infected person sneezes and the disease microbes are present in it, someone runs a risk of catching it if such microbes come into contact with the eye.

I'm not saying it's easy to get it, I'm saying that person A doesn't swap with person B.

It's kind of like a way more infectious STD.

And you can't get STDs randomly. Same with Ebola

Be happy.

Comedians have a special plaque on their door saying "We can joke about anything so fuck you".

Reasons why FP is better than here:
1. They can talk about what they want on TS3. (They say "Does SabreTooth want Ebola?")

That's about it. Although, Ebola's quite serious now, in the future it may seem to be the flick of a dandelion. Even humanity survived the buboes plague, would we joke about that today? Probably.

Some people struggle with this desease and is very sick and afraid of whats going to happen, and i feel with them. I wouldnt joke with this, as deseases should be taken seriously.

As Patrick stated we have had some warnings that it might have spread to DK, but luckily they have have turned out to be nothing.
Even though its not in our country yet i really hope they will find a solution to it. For everybody's sake.
I think that people that jokes about deseases, should try to think about how they would feel if they were sick themselves. They probably wouldnt joke about it then.
