id love to hear some theories!
I think it's due to the fact that enjoying Zarp servers these days take a special type of personality. You have to enjoy running around in a suit on an empty map, mine gems and give them your money and AFK mine for gems on multiple accounts so that you can open cases for multiple hours.
It's truly the most depressing thing ever. Back in 2015-2018 there was a community of people. It's the people that make the server, not the content. However that rule does not apply to the minority of Zarp players that find joy yet to this day. I understand some of it is driven by nostalgia, but at some point rationale has to apply, yet it doesn't.
The takeaway is that we have to recognize that people are addicted, and addiction tends to fill other holes otherwise filled by social interaction, work, irl-hobbies etc. For instance, you might feel a sense of emotional connection to Sally, but you have to realize that Sally is not real, neither is anything else on this pixelated piece of crap that could have been the greatest community ever if only it was fostered towards ingenuity and took community feedback more seriously.
