The appeal isn't the same anymore, personally i don't feel satisfied like I used to, there is no competition, when there is new players they are most of the time immediately chased off the server because they are starting to compete with other established players... what is there to accomplish nowadays ?
Even if that's so newer generations should be coming in. It seems like Zarp had a massive surge of players coming in during 2015-2016 and ever since it has been on a decline, with only a handful of players coming in later on.
In general what you're supposed to accomplish is the same thing you were going to accomplish when you first started. I remember enjoying the gang upgrades but once my gang had acquired all upgrades we ran out of stuff to do. We'd come on to raid and base for the sake of being raided. After 4 years I believe there was a few more upgrades to the gangs but it was a long wait and with such a gap the critical mass died out. At least that's my theory.
