TOPIC: My experience being highly productive

My experience being highly productive 3 years 10 months ago #1303726

So it occured to me the other day that I had a lot that needed to be done. My introversion has always proved itself valuable when it comes to me having an excuse being alone - but it's not a natural thing for me to be doing Actual work. So what happened?

To understand what really happened we need to take a step back and understand how we got here.

At 7 years old I was likely playing videogames, either Modern Warfare 2 or Runescape. I had grown quite fond playing games at an early age, and I always enjoyed the grind aspect. I think that intro-perspective really glanced at my eyes at an early age because being a human naturally drove me to progress at whatever I was doing. Initially it was games, but at a later age, playing video games brought more suffering than growth as I had been through most things you experience playing video games.
So the day came when the electricity ran out and I was forced to adapt to something else. Maybe reading a book, maybe doing some maths, maybe even work on a product. I had always thought of the greatest invention ever, which was the automatic toilter paper roll, it basically rolls itself out for you so that you can focus more on taking a big dump over actually having to do menial tasks, which takes away the joy of pooping.

So the ideas started swarming my head and I was overwhelmed with ideas actually. I was unable to sleep that day because my brain was going nuts trying to reiterate how I could implement this idea of an automatic toilet paper roll into actuality. The days went by and my video game addiction had dimished into vaporware for the time being; vaporware I thought. Isn't that word quite similar to toilet paper? I indeed thought so and pursued an investment from relatives, they were all very interested into buying a product that didn't yet exist. They all contributed with $50 each, and I had about $500 to invest with. I bought an Arduino Nano, some cables, a rotary motor, a switch, a few buttons, a battery and some other menial items. I also needed materials for the toilet paper holder so I ended up buying a new one. All this costed me $300 so I only had $150 left for marketing.

I built the whole thing and it took my a few days. The struggle of making the product work was quite a struggle and rest assured, I did not manage to conceal the whole contraption from a user PoV- which made the whole thing uglier than it needed to be - but it was a prototype so who cares? Anyways, I also had to code the thing and that was the hardest part. The rotary motor I had bought was extremely slow and the software in the Arduino IDE bugged itself over and over again. Rest assured, case was solved once I had updated the IDE and used another libary to match my needs. The big issue I have yet to overcome is how slow the toilet paper actually rotates relative to how humans normally do it. I was unable to sell the prototype to a major investor so I ended up giving back the remaining $50 back to my relatives. They had lost 10x their money but at least it wasn't as bad as it could have been; had it been a major investment I'd be behind bars, but luckly things weren't taken too far. Lesson to take away? If you fail early, you won't fall as hard.

So that's the story guys, I hope you enjoyed it. I really try to make the best content here. I really enjoyed playing SSRP today and I was able to do some nice plays, maybe I'll even reveal my IGN some day. Anyways, I hope you have a wonderful day.

These kind of life lessons I believe are more important than anything school teaches us, not only will it help you in things like attaining physical wealth, etc. it will also help drastically improve your mentality. I do have to say I'm quite surprised as to why someone would put this much effort into helping strangers online that probably won't even bother reading what you offered.

Took me 5 minutes to write each post so it wasn't honestly much effort; I'm sure there's plenty of errors all over the place. I had fun with it - And I try to not focus on impact that I have, since that's out of my control and focusing on things you cannot control leads to less well being.

You seem to be quite wise, I would love to have a chat with you if you'd be so kind as to add me on discord. Nick0GR#9038
