TOPIC: Thoughts on this build?

Thoughts on this build? 4 years 2 weeks ago #1286922

So I'm planning on building a PC in a couple months once I have Enough for it, so I thought I'd maybe post the list on here to see if I could improve some things.

Keep in mind:
1. The Currency conversions are rounded up to the closest value to the actual part's price (In JDs).
2. Some parts will be bought second hand meaning the price will be lower than the actual retail value.

Case: Xigmatek Poseidon RGB with Rainbow LED Stripe
Price: 45JDs or 50 GBP

MOBO: MSI AMD Ryzen B450M-A PRO MAX AM4 M-ATX Motherboard
Price: 59JDs or 65 GPB

CPU: AMD RYZEN 5 3600 6-Core 3.6 GHz (4.2 GHz Max Boost)
Price: 175JDs or 190 GBP

CPU Cooler: Xigmatek Aurora 240 AIO
Price: 80JDs or 85 GBP

RAM: x2 HyperX Fury 8GB RGB 3200 MHz DDR4 Memory
Price: 90JDs or 100 GBP

GPU: Nvidia RTX 3050 (Leaked but still not announced hence why the price is unknown)
Price: Unkown (Expected to be around 250 GBP with the performance of the 2070)

PSU: XIGMATEK Hydra M 750W 80+ Bronze Fully Modular PSU
Price: 60JDs or 65 GBP

Storage: Western Digital Purple 1TB IntelliPower Hard Drive
Price: 45JDs or 50 GBP

Boot Drive: Kingston A400 240GB SSD
Price: 0, Already on hand during the making of this list

Overall Price: 785 JDs or 830 GBP (Not including the monitor).

Accessories
Monitor: Samsung T550 24" Curved 1000R 75Hz Freesync Gaming Monitor
Price: 160 JDs or 170 GBP (Monitor's Budget is not included into the entire build's price)

Personally, I would try to get the nvidia 2080, ti or not, just so you don't have to worry about a gpu for a while, but the 1660 should be fine. I have the 2080 right now and have had no issues with it and run every game I play at 70+ fps on max settings

I'm buying a 1660 Super for now, once it's actually worth upgrading then I might buy a new card since the 1660 Super is very capable, It's able to run most Triple A games at High to Ultra settings at 60 - 100FPS without anti aliasing, But an Upgrade is planned for the future which is why I got a Ryzen 5 3600

Depending on when you plan on actually going through with the purchase it might be worthwhile to simply wait a bit for the AMD benchmarks to come through and decide then, the price compared to performance willl most likely be better on the new AMD products

i wouldn't even think about getting a 2080 when 3080 is around the corner.
also why do you only get a 240 gb ssd? aint it better to get an nvme for boot and get a 1tb ssd over the hdd? will load games faster

It will be a while till I get this build so by then the new And GPUs would've probably already dropped, and if they actually are worth buying then I might get one

1. Why would I buy an NVME SSD when I already have a SATA SSD on hand that's pretty fast actually and works perfectly fine (Edit: I also forgot to mention that I do have some data on this SSD that I don't want to lose)
2. 1TB SSDs are pretty expensive over here and I don't really care how fast the games load up
3. I'm not planning on getting a Very high end GPU at the moment but I am planning to get one down the line

Yeah but 27" and 1080P do not go very well, the pixel density would be very bad

oh, missed a part. yeah if you already have the ssd on hand then it makes sense. on the 1tb ssd part i will add that taking for example the game Phasmophobia, on the map Asylum (biggest map), a friend of mine takes 2 minutes and sometimes more to load (he has an hdd), whereas i have an ssd and it takes less than 10 seconds. with the gpu it's a rather good choice.
