I would say go for it, even tho it's considered to be "bad" it would suck to miss out if you played the first one.

Entirely up to you - it's an incredibly divisive game, and some people love it, while others hate it. There doesn't seem to be much of a middleground. But I think the beauty of it is that you can make your own opinions. So, get it, and play it if you want a different experience. Make your own conclusion based off of that.
