A large explosion took place in Beirut’s port yesterday. There are around 100 dead, many still missing, and more than 4000 physical injuries. Material damages are massive, houses are shattered as well as shops and offices.

The explosion was heard and felt miles from the blast, and some damage also occurred far from the blast (shows how strong it was.) People in Cyprus reported feeling and hearing the explosion, I’ll add pictures below for reference.

The reason behind the explosion is still unconfirmed, but it seems as though one of the warehouses in the Port of Beirut contained 2700 tonnes (≈2900 tons) of ammonium nitrate (which is highly explosive), and it was on fire prior to the explosion.

Prayers go out to all the victims and those affected. Please pray for Beirut, Lebanon!

Besides the pandemic, we have experienced economic downfall, the world’s 3rd highest hyperinflation (after Zimbabwe and Venezuela,) high unemployment rates, a revolution, a corrupt government and system, etc.
