"I can't gain weight"
"You need protein powder to gain muscle"
You don't absolutely need it, but It's an easy way to achieve my daily protein goals
I'd rather chug that shake rather than have 4-5 eggs and want to kms
It's the emphasis on "need" I hate hearing when swole bodybuilders and fitness influences swear by the fact you need protein shakes and shit loads of protein a day to most of the time impresonable kids, before stuff like hard work, progressive overload and a good diet, but aye it's real pupose is for convenience
EDIT: 150g a day? are you 150kg?
Yeh I know, they are probably just saying that shit for marketing purposes. I weigh about 74-75kg atm and I try to eat about 2g of protein per kg of body weight per day. My height is 173cm in case you are curious
I don't wanna say what you're doing is wrong because every person is different but every reserch article I have read is that at the most you need about 1.2-1.6 g per kg of body weight at my heaviest I was eating 100g and that was at 1g per kg, some research even suggest you can only absorb a certain amount of protein per meal, and I aye I hate the marketing because I fell for it when I started getting into lifting and probably wasted lots of money that could have been spent elsewhere

I know I do eat in the higher end, but all articles vary e.g. Healthline says that
"A common recommendation for gaining muscle is 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight, or 2.2 grams of protein per kg" . I used to eat less then that (about 120g per day), and when I was examined to see how much protein was in my muscles, they told me I have to eat 150g per day
. And the research on how much protein can be absorbed in one meal is not sufficient yet
