TOPIC: Celeste review (Worth a read)

I never done a review in my life but Celeste is so exceptional I had to.

Gonna start my review with a simple statement - This is hands down the best game I have ever played and would 110% recommend this game to anyone. Infinite/10

Where to start... Well the first thing you will notice is the amazing music and it is consistently great and fitting for each chapter from start to finish. The game starts off nice and simple and you will find out very quickly how limited of a move set you have but part of the greatness of Celeste is how insanely well the game adapts around the limited options. Each chapter gives you unique challenges from different ways of getting around, if its flying to platform to platform, bouncing between orbs or flying round a maze of obstacles with a golden feather. Celeste's difficultly I would say is fairly high but not too much of a problem for anyone good at platformers, granted on a few parts I got stuck but the sense of achievement and satisfaction you get when you beat a tough challenge feels extremely rewarding but you are so ready and excited to tackle the next task you can't let yourself enjoy the moment. Before I get to my personal favorite part about the game I must mention what I would class as the boss level of the game and let me just say WOW! It is intense, fast paced and on top of that very long (most likely the longest "boss" I've ever done). Now for by far the best part of the game, the story!! I had only seen gameplay before playing Celeste and expected little to no story which didn't bother me as I have never been one for a story let alone in a game but my mind was blown. As the game progresses you find out more and more about the girl you are playing and the reasons why you are climbing the mountain. Although Celeste doesn't have many characters each one plays their part PERFECTLY. The way the story is written so fittingly with the gameplay from very early into the game you start to feel real emotion for the characters and it matches to what each characters is feeling at that current time which I think is incredible to pull off considering no voice acting and no animated cutscenes. The talking is so basic yet has so much emotion behind it its incredible. I hate to use the cliche "makes you feel like" but Celeste does make you feel emotion and like you are the one struggling to go from platform to platform as you ascend the mountain. I can not put in words how well the story manipulates your real life emotions from excitement to guilt to sadness to hope to heartbreak to happiness etc. The final main game level is a celebration of everything you have learnt along the way with a really happy twist (I won't spoil it) Nearing the end of the main game (excluding extra chapters) it truly makes you feel like you have learnt about the main character inside and out, from reasons to be climbing in the first place to why it is so important to reach the summit. I guess I will end this about reaching the summit, seeing the the flag gives you this sense of relief but along with that a sense of sadness while being pleased for the main character and that her life changing adventure has concluded. The ending which I won't spoil is a fantastic yet sad way to finish the game then you get the credits and I'd be lying if I sad I didn't shed a tear during them for the emotional rollercoaster of a story/game. In conclusion I could not recommend a game more, I know I will never have the chance to play a game that would make me feel the way Celeste did. The developers did such a phenomenal job on Celeste.

Really isn't cringe. If you were to actually play the game, go through all the difficult levels, you'd instantly fall in love.

I've already tried this game with one of my close friends. I instantly stopped playing because of how hard it was. But its a good game, but not for my mental health x)
