not share the video or this man's identity anywhere. What any and all mass shooters want (and undeservedly get) is attention. By sharing such a video you're indirectly complicit in mass murders world wide.
These kinds of people need to fade away into obscurity. Not their name, not their face nor anything else belonging to them should be shared anywhere, for it will only cause more harm in the world.
This man is a monster. My thoughts go out to not just these victims' relatives, but also to anyone trying to freely practice their religion in peace and safety, as is their right.
you are correct in that he does not deserve the mass media attention, with the constant coverage for $$$$. however, what this case DOES need is individual attention from people to educate themselves on the warning signs and personality traits of radicalisation, and from that a worldwide discussion can be formed on the best way to stop things like this before they happen.
don't give it no attention, give it the right attention.
Radicalisation needs a lot of attention, as well as the possible harm that can and has been caused by online bubbles. The effects caused both on small and large scale and how we need to deal with that are problems that should be openly discussed, both on here as well as within any political sphere.
Perhaps I was not clear in the fact that my response primarily had to do with the persona that committed this act, and not the act itself. This man is nobody, and he should remain nobody. Also the attention that is needed has nothing to do with the fact that that video should not be shared or encouraged to be viewed anywhere, as that is exactly what that monster wants.
Yeah I agree that the video itself shouldn't receive any sort of attention, however the morbid curiosity of the people on the Internet is always going to draw in views and as such we can't really prevent it at this stage. Even so, it still presents as an additional way to study the type of people who can be vulnerable to radicalisation and manipulation.
The person that committed the act himself shouldn't receive any level of attention, but the character traits of the person, the upbringing of the person, and the political views of the person should receive a lot of attention in educating the masses in recognising this type of thing.
Additionally, the manifesto does a lot to display his character. Rather nihlistic, obviously radicalised and led astray in some form or another, however rather intelligent and motivated. The manifesto can be very useful in identifying those at risk of radicalisation.
Still a terrorist, though.
