TOPIC: [SSRP] Spectrum's Demotion Appeal

[SSRP] Spectrum's Demotion Appeal 4 years 1 month ago #1276722

jack bushross wrote:
This time was met by spectrum and if hes not motivated to play he can easily do most of the job of a headadmin out of game. These jobs being
 • Tasks on the weekly onenote.
 • filling out weekly spreadsheets for meetings
 • Any other things that have been adding since I resigned.

I just want to point out something here: we have attempted to get Spectrum to do these things and they did not happen. Spectrum was given a sanction to play consistently on the server over the course of 2 weeks showing a good attitude and interacting with staff and other Lead Team members, and the fact of the matter is that this was not done. We attempted multiple times to speak with Spectrum and remind him about the sanction, and when he decided to revoke his resignation we did our best to make it clear to him that the sanction would still be active and what it would entail.

To quote the policy on sanctions:
The sanction should be completed to a high standard

When the sanction is to play on the server consistently over the course of 2 weeks, by only connecting to the server on 2 days, it is really not possible to argue that this sanction was completed. We tried to give Spectrum some other things he could've done if he was looking for more to do, including OnionRings taking the time to plan out an event that he could've done which we thought users would've really enjoyed, but Spectrum did not want to do this. With the Lead Team rota, all members of the Lead Team also have the opportunity to choose a task to do throughout the week. Whilst we were discussing Spectrum's sanction and the further action to take on it, he gave his task away to someone else.

We do fully recognise that Spectrum worked hard to get to the rank of Head Admin, but that is something which still needs to be upheld in the position, as there are responsibilities of all ranks, especially Lead Team positions, which we do expect to be fulfilled, and as it stands, if someone is not motivated to carry out these responsibilities, or if they think the server is "boring", it does beg the question of whether or not they should remain in the role.

If you have an issue with OnionRings, Jamie, feel free to contact myself or Chute and we are more than happy to explain to you the hard work and effort that OnionRings is putting into the server and how much he is helping out, in a way that makes him more than deserving of all of his current positions.

Why does he have to contact you personally and you don't just say it on the forums?

If Jamie has issues with a specific member of the team and he does not want to make a report, he is free to contact us about what these issues are, there's no need for me to make a long post on the forums to explain everything OnionRings does when the topic at hand isn't Onion!

I would just like to point out and this is not me arguing with you. I am fully respectful of you replying to this post and even more so to replying to me. I would first like to point out
If you have an issue with OnionRings, Jamie, feel free to contact myself or Chute and we are more than happy to explain to you the hard work and effort that OnionRings is putting into the server and how much he is helping out, in a way that makes him more than deserving of all of his current positions.

I was simply just using it as an example of what has happened in the past and what was done then compared to now. Nothing personal and nothing digging at him. His name was the first to come into my head. If you really want I can also bring up the Clarky situation if you really would like me to. And as we all know I am not one to shy away from calling someone out if I really want to I have done it plenty of times in the past.

So for the Sanction there isnt a need to post the policy I wrote it with you :). I am simply taking this appeal from face value of what's being told to us and giving my response. Of course I don't know everything that is going on behind the scenes anymore. Im just saying the whole demoting over the staff member not wanting to currently play is a bit dumb but if hes not doing things out of game then fair enough. If he was doing said tasks then he should think about what needs to be done ETC. Another example of this was me when being LT I wouldn't be able to go to the meetings but I'd make sure everything was prepared and complete so it could be done. Along with additional notes on the onenote about certain situations if needed bringing up.

I would also like to thank Xnator for not replying to me like a complete cunt and actually taking the time to make a genuine response. So thank you.

For what Nick0GR Said
Why does he have to contact you personally and you don't just say it on the forums?
Its just an easier way to stop drama from entering the forums and to stop it before it even starts. I can fully understand why he has said to do such things.

I mean nobody asked for a long detailed post about what he does and you are the one that mentioned onion not me, and let's not forget in the survey, that onion made, a lot of people asked for more transparency and communication. A quick mention of the things he's done would suffice

this whole sanction idea just seems weird to me. why punish someone with the punishment of "you must play on the server more" and thinsg to that effect. surely other things matter a lot more than that.

:plussp: Not sure if he made it known, but Spectrum helped me through difficult situations, even when he was trying to sleep; he still got on. I remember this one time to where it was late at night, other LT members weren't available, he was. This demotion doesn't ring well with me either. This makes me worry about my rank now, as I start work soon, and my time will be less available.

Regarding the event thing with onion, I had completely forgotten about onion even saying about doing an event, also why would me giving the task I have to someone else be such a negative thing? The person I gave it to left the meeting earlier and asked in the lead team channel on discord if he could do it, to which I said yes because I'm going to be a bit more busy this week.

I really believe that my demotion was unfair, i have tried to state to you that IRL I'm starting to be more busy and said that I will be inactive for a little bit which I would have hoped that could have at least been taken into consideration despite the sanction being in place, its not like I have full control over when things happen.

Although I was only actually on the server for 2 or 3 days this week, i have been on teamspeak every single day this week, if I was needed for anything you could have said and once when I said I was bored and onion said "maybe I should get on ssrp and do my job" when my Internet was having a fun time which when it is i dont tend to play any online games as my ping gets unbearable.

Also where you first say
I just want to point out something here: we have attempted to get Spectrum to do these things and they did not happen.
Tasks on the weekly onenote.
filling out weekly spreadsheets for meetings
Any other things that have been adding since I resigned.
I did the tasks I had which assigned to me, I kept the onenote up to date with anything that needed to be added. There hasn't been much change needed in the onenote and I have not been told anything needed to be added to it.

What is going on inside their heads? Spectrum clearly wants to focus on his uni. Who cares if hes inactive for a bit? For some people real life is still a thing. Since the server is in a rough spot right now anyways, wouldnt it be stupid to demote a respectfull member like spectrum?

:support:

Spectrum is actually a rly nice guy, I'm pretty sure the first time I ever spoke to him was him banning me from Teamspeak (or something along those lines) but even still he always spoke to me in a respectful manner despite his initial impressions of me. He seems like the kind of guy who does what needs to be done, when it needs to be done and right now he just needs a bit of time for a break. There are many previous LT members who did the same thing and still kept their ranks.

Hey Spectrum,

After discussing your appeal in the lead team meeting on the 03/10/2020 we've decided not to remove your demotion and therefore deny this appeal. Your demotion was the result of an unfulfilled sanction. We've had a lengthy discussion in the meeting you got demoted in and we explained our thoughts and reasons to you straight after. You've been doing a good job this week and we're happy to see you around more often now. Feel free to apply back for Head Admin once your activity gets more consistent over a longer period of time.

Your demotion will not get removed.
