Actually i would
support not selling mod at all (easy for me to say). But being objective as i usually am, i can't help but to realize the fact that Agentlulz and Zart want maximum value out of their feature.
So if you think about it: They found the price of mod that is a little expensive but sell very well.
- If they increase the price they will decrease abuse, that doesn't make enough people leave the server -thus making it unprofitable.
- If they decrease the price they will increase abuse even more while not many more people will buy the feature, than there is allready.
I'm not a business specialist, but i play poker so i know things about maximizing expected value. They want as much as they can get, and needless to say - that's what their doing. Don't think you can + or - support them off their business plan.
Of course if enough people left the community because of abusin mods, it would make a difference, and ten they might rethink prices. But until then i wouldn't set my expectations too high.
I've worked in marketing and online marketing in particular. Our player base is mostly from a younger group of player, which don't put much consideration to the fact they might lose their rank. They are usually also strongly opinionated about how well they follow the rules. Whilst in fact they are sometimes the worst players on the server.
Either way the 50$ will be paid, I see no psychological barriers in the amount increasing substantially. This for a couple of simple marketing guidelines.
Apart from that I don't think we should remove paid mod. The 'paying' is not such a big issue with abusing mods. Yes, they might be a little cockier then others because they took their wallets out.. but they can do fine with guidance. There is a great amount of admins being caught abusing to this very day. They were all promoted, no money involved.
It's all about teaching and being strict with them.
Money is not a factor.
I can see the logic in that, however i did not know that there were many "non-paid" mods who abused. That was mainly a subconsious disconcern. But I think i've heard some talk about abusing mods.
It also makes sence that paid mods don't know much about being mod, since they haven't had to fill any form. They just pay an amount of money and there you go.
I guess you could programm some kind of tutorial to go through once promoted, that will teach the basics of being a mod.
But i'm still pretty sure increasing the price will decrease the sales. But that is not an unbuyest opinion (mean syou guys can take it or leave it xD)...
