when I click x which is what I have my talk set to it will not work also when I turn up voice transmit volume and click apply it will automatically turn back down if I back out therefore I can not speak I have tried everything off of youtube and steam

Try un-plugging your microphone then plugging that back in.
Also, try to go on other games and see if you're mic works, to see if this is a Gmod problem or a mic problem.
