Sorry about the Downtime...
As you know unfortunately the ZARP servers have been offline for the past 24 hours, we understand this is completely unacceptable which is why we wanted to make this thread to tell you about what caused it and what we're doing to put it right.
Let's start with some good news first. All of our services have now been restored, thank you to the server owners who helped to fix issues across the various servers. If you happen to come across something that is now broken but was working fine before the downtime, please make a post in the corresponding section with a screenshot of the issue if possible.
What happened?
We had planned a scheduled maintenance window of 2 hours for 3am to 5am BST on 20/04 in order to take our server offline to upgrade a failing hardware part responsible for recent server wide crashes.
At approximately 8am BST 21/04 we we're made aware that as a result of this maintenance our server had developed a fault and was unable to boot correctly. At approximately 11pm BST this fault had been resolved and we were able to begin restoring our server from backups.
Has any of my stuff been lost?
Since we backup our data regularly there is little to no rollback of data across our servers. If you were playing in the last 2 hours before the downtime. (between 3-5am BST 20/04) you may have noticed items you gained/lost have been restored to the earlier time.
Some users may need their Teamspeak ranks and badges restored. And you may need to re-upload your avatar.
This does not affect many players and if you were playing during these times and think you have lost an item please make a refund request and we will investigate each case individually.
ZARP Booster Pack and ZARP VIP purchases were not affected by this downtime.
What action are you taking?
We know that this level of downtime is unacceptable and therefore we are taking several steps to put this situation right.
1) We will carefully be reviewing our backup and restore procedures to see how things can be done significantly quicker in case of a future server fault.
2) We have already been working closely with our provider to ensure future restorations can be done quickly and have ran rigorous hardware tests to reduce the possibility of any similar faults developing.
3) Although only a handful of players may have experienced items being gained/lost in the 2 hours before the downtime, we will investigate each and every refund request as soon as possible.
What do I need to do to claim my free downtime items?
As a goodwill gesture, we're giving every player a Login Bonus over the next 24 hours, simply for logging onto one of our ZARP SSRP servers. This bonus consists of x1 Blueprint Case, x1 Weapons Case and 100,000 gems.
To claim these items, simply login to one of the ZARP SSRP servers over the next 24 hours and the items will automatically be added to your inventory shortly after joining, you will also be notified in chat. You can only claim this free login bonus once per account.
In Conclusion
We take this level of interruption to our services very seriously and once again offer our most sincere apologies to everybody who has been affected. We will take any steps as necessary to review and update our procedures to ensure this doesn't happen again.
