It's finally time for the SSRP Mayor Update! Join the server this Saturday, the 25th of June 2022 at 6PM BST to run for office. In this update, we're going to add a bunch of new abilities and mechanics surrounding the mayor job. Your decisions now truly impact the entire city, but remember - with great power comes great responsibility. Spread the word and make sure to be there on Saturday!

Your City, Your Rules

As the mayor, you are the most important person in town and whatever you say, goes! When you are in office, you can now invoke policies which allow you to directly influence various existing in-game mechanics to your liking. Initially, you will only be able to invoke a single policy, but as you stay alive longer and longer, you will be able to invoke up to three policies at the same time. Some policies might favor the general public or specific jobs, while others mainly favor you and your government. Most policies also have downsides and flaws however, so if you're not prepared to make compromises, you will have to face some backlash and you might end up losing your position... or your life...

Expect the Unexpected

Being powerful doesn't always mean you can do what you want. As you manage your government and go about your daily business, you will regularly have to deal with upcoming incidents and situations from various people in your government. These situations can range from simple inquiries to literal life-or-death decision that might impact the entire city. It's completely up to you as to how you want to deal with these incidents, but you should be prepared to pay the price if you fail to handle them correctly or ignore them out right.

Climb the Ranks

As with everything else in life, experience pays off when you're running your government. Managing your policies correctly and correctly responding to incidents in time gives you experience, which will eventually give you the ability to level up your mayor rank. Alongside the usual rewards for levelling up, you unlock additional policies with every new rank.

Stay Alive

---

You can never please everyone, when making difficult decisions. Sure, you can always try to find a good compromise, but there is almost certainly always someone who just wants to see you out of office. The new "Secret Service" job is tasked with protecting the mayor and making sure they can efficiently and productively run the government. In turn, they will receive additional police experience, as long as they stay close to the mayor.
