Community Team Induction Completed
We have now completed the induction for the new Community Managers for 2021, OnionRings and Martin. We want to congratulate them once more for their hard work and dedication towards the community over their combined decade of experience in ZARP.
The new Community Managers have now been trained with all of their new powers, rights and responsibilities, and have laid out their plans for the coming year. We're incredibly impressed with what Martin and OnionRings have brought to the table, and are incredibly excited to work with them to bring out our plans for 2021!
We'll be continuing to work on what we have discussed as our plans for ZARP in 2021, so expect to see further announcements, features and changes across the community in the coming weeks and months, including a range of significant improvements to the Community Team's workflow for handling bug reports, suggestions and feature updates on our servers!
Revoking Resignations -> Resignations Policy
Resignations Notices
If you are planning on resigning from a Server Owner or above position you must do the following:
- Give at least two weeks notice
- Do your best to complete current ongoing tasks or delegate them to others
- For Server Owners, try to come up with a replacement to take over after you've resigned
However, If you are in a position where you must resign because of a serious reason, you can contact the CM Team and ask to resign without meeting the above requirements.
Revoking Resignations
A staff member may revoke an official resignation and have their powers restored to the same level as they previously had, they should inform a staff member with the correct privileges to restore their rank and make a post on their resignation thread stating that they have now revoked. They can revoke their resignation up to one week after the resignation thread has been posted.
You cannot revoke a resignation again one month from the last time you've revoked a resignation.
New Policy - Community Q&As
Community Q&As are regularly held events to keep the Community updated on the future of ZARP, answer questions and directly respond to new community-wide ideas and suggestions. We aim to hold around 2 - 3 Q&A sessions throughout the year, but it's ultimately up to the Community Team how many session will take place and when they are scheduled.
We try to make the Q&A sessions as accessible as possible. The only requirement to participate is to have access to the platform on which the sessions are being hosted (Our official Teamspeak and Discord servers). Banned players are not allowed to directly participate in the sessions. Some sessions will be live streamed by a member of the Community Team but this is not strictly required. You may not record / stream the session yourself without permission from the Community Team. The Community Team may exclude anyone from the Q&A at any point in time if they are breaking rules, not following our terms of use or disrupting the session in another way.
Scheduling Q&A Sessions
In order for a Q&A session to take place it will need to be brought up by a Community Manager or above during the weekly Community Team meeting. Before officially voting on whether or not to schedule a session, the following details need to be agreed upon:
- Scheduled Date and Time of the Q&A session
- Scheduled Duration of the Q&A session
- Platform the Q&A session will be held on (Teamspeak or Discord?)
- If and how the session is going to be documented (Live Stream, Recording, etc.)
- Who is going to be responsible for documenting the session? (if applicable)
- Who is going to be responsible for hosting the session?
After formally voting to hold a Q&A session it has to be announced in the weekly Community Team Meeting Outcome. It should also be promoted using a dedicated forum announcement. Server Owners and above are urged to attend these sessions, as they should be able to respond to any upcoming questions about their respective servers. Q&A sessions should be announced at least a few days in advance to give as many people the opportunity to attend as possible.
Application Reply Policy Updated
Members of the community team are not able to reply to Community Manager applications.
Community Q&A - Saturday 30th January 5PM UTC
Alongside the appointing of our new Community Managers and the new Community Q&A Policy, we would like to announce the first Community Q&A to be conducted under this policy, which will take place on the ZARP Teamspeak server (ts.zarpgaming.com) on Saturday 30th January at 5PM UTC.
We anticipate that the Community Q&A will run for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, and will also be livestreamed by TheXnator (
twitch.tv/thexnator), and we will be able to take some questions from the Twitch chat. The VOD of the Q&A will also be uploaded to YouTube for future reference.
As part of our plan for 2021, we have been considering ownership of the Pointshop servers, and have noticed a particular dedication towards Surf and Bhop from a particular individual, especially with mapping, a skill this individual has been consistently impressing us with over the past few months.
Congratulations to
Mix3rz on being promoted to Server Owner on both Surf and Bhop!
