ZARP's Newest Community Developer

Introduction

Throughout the past 2 days, the community team has been hard at work reviewing the submissions that we received from members of the community. We have seen some very high quality addons, with new and innovative crafting systems along with very addictive gambling mini-games. We are extremely pleased with the content that has been submitted and would like to thank all candidates for participating in this revolutionary challenge.

The participants were asked to create a Daily Reward system for our Pointshop servers, which rewards players for logging in each day by rewarding them with items, points or XP. It is completely up to you how this addon functions and the complexity of its features. We have seen a wide variety of new ideas from our participants, and both met the criteria that we asked for.

The Results

We received two entries from members of the community, these being DEADMONSTOR & TheXnator. Below you can find the marking grid from the community team. I would also like to remind you of the criteria that the two candidates were marked on based off their submission.

Presentation - The look and overall design of the addon
Code Efficency - Is the code easy to read, easy for other devs to edit and understand and use standard GLua conventions
Code Quality - Are there any script errors, exploits or other issues with the code
Player Engagement - Does the addon engage players, is it fun to use, will it draw them back on the server each day
Innovation - Does the addon do something new and original compared to what we might expect

Obviously as you can see, both candidates made a valiant effort based on the results shown above, however, DEADMONSTOR just beat TheXnator. We would like to congratulate both candidates however, as we have seen some very high quality submissions that show lots of promise and capability from the candidates. Keep up the good work.

I would like to congratulate DEADMONSTOR on this incredible achievement from today. It is insane to believe that within less than a month you have already helped out massively throughout the entire community, producing updates for all the Pointshop servers and continuously helping with bug fixes. Your addon needs a bit of polishing in places, but overall you have shown us excellent work on your part. I am very excited to be working even closer with you and hopefully you can improve the community even more than you already have.

I would also like to thank Xnator for his own addon that, although also in need of some slight polish, had some very good ideas and a much nicer look and feel overall. Your addition was very promising and we hope that you will continue to code for the servers like you are doing now. Your shards system - although not part of the actual challenge - seemed quite promising, so be sure to work together with DEAD if such a system can actually be added on the Pointshop in the future.

Lastly I would like to say that this was a great effort from both candidates and I am very grateful you both decided to spend this time to put in the effort and help the community. DEAD I wish you the best of luck for this community, I am sure that you will do some very great work!

Massive congrats to DEAD, fully deserves this, however from the results we can see that Xnator's front end code is far better, surley if he helped Dead with updates and that, then they would be better.
