Just 30 minutes ago, playing Deathrun, I witnessed bad staffing by another staff member. I have proof, but I will not upload it as this isn't a demote request or anything because quite frankly I've spoken to the staff member about this and hopefully he's understood the following I'm about to explain.
Certain rules don't require an instant punishment, stop being so hard on the players, especially the new ones although everyone should still be treated equally. Sure, it might be a matter of opinion, go ahead and argue it's up to the staff member to decide how to punish a player. But the most minor rules broken, do not require instant punishment, verbal punishment doesn't hurt and it still helps the player out by telling them what they've done wrong and how to improve on it.
The spreading of links rule, although it could be classed as a more serious offense, but it all depends on what link has been posted.
Take this as an example of when to use a Verbal warning, or even better, use your common sense and tell that it's a joke link and it's honestly not going to hurt anyone. That's most likely why the rule was put into place, to stop malicious content being spread freely, I later heard on that the mod must have clicked on the link because he said it was a real website, which is of course an entirely joke website.
Another topic I'd like to clarify- Disrespect.
- Keep offensive language to a minimum.
This is the rule for Disrespect. It doesn't even say you're not allowed to use offensive language, in the instance I witnessed was a player calling another player "fucking shit". Now, these players were good friends, who speak to each other on a daily basis, so it's banter as many of you should know. The staff member told him off ( verbally warning him ) for disrespect. Argue all you want that it says you should keep the offensive language to a minimum but 1 ) There wasn't much offensive language used and 2 ) It also says in the rules that you should use your common sense- this brings me onto this:
You're a moderator, who should be paying attention to the game at most times. Paying attention, including watching the game go on itself, reading the chat and
listening to the voice chat. This moderator, probably wasn't listening to the voice chat, you could also argue that he was listening to music or didn't have headphones in but wait, why was he responding to other people in voice chat at the same time? This equals to no excuse to not listen to the voice chat. If the Mod would have listened to the voice chat, if you were using common sense you could have easily picked up that these 2 players were friends. Joking around and laughing with eachother, having a great time. They have my utmost respect for being positive and bringing a good vibe to the server. Later on, one of the players calls the other player "fucking shit", now by this point everyone should have noticed these guys are great friends, but nope.
The moderator verbally warned him for disrespect, for absolutely no reason. And the thing that gets on my nerves is that there was no "Were you offended" message by the moderator, the apparent "victim" of the disrespect said numerous times that he wasn't offended by the messages. But the moderator refuses to admit his mistakes and carries on saying "doesn't matter it was disrespectful language".
Let me take you back to the Disrespect rule, why do you think the rule was put in place? To stop people getting offended. Not to stop disrespectful language as a whole, if someone admits to being offended then so be it, punish them for it as it's geniunely offended someone, don't verbally warn them if they're having banter.
No, I will not release any information on whom this is about, this will not go any further than a post about how to chill the fuck out as a staff member.
Rant over, sorry for being so salty in this post but it infuriates me to see Staff ruining the fun of the server for everybody, when no one has actually broken a rule.
Those involved, you know who you are, please don't come out and say you were involved as there is no point to it.
