Yes it is

You get five with the Ammo Boost, so yes - it is holsterable.

Even you don't have ammo boost you still can holster it with 1 amount only

It's holsterable however if you've not got any ammo boost then you only get 1 so when you through it it's gone.

I remember once when I bought one, I thought you could throw it and holster it but I lost it after I threw it without an ammo boost

it is holster-able on one condition and that is that you have an ammo boost. If you do not have an ammo boost it is a one time use.
