Will my alt loose his diamond pickaxe from this maintenance break?

I think not, It's probaly in you're inventory when you join the server.

If not try ''/restore'' in chat.

I don't think so but if you don't receive it you can make a refund request on the forums. Normally people will get their items back though, and as people have mentioned the /restore or /refund system is inplace.

The Maintenance is over now but just for next time , when the server restarts , crashes or any server side problem it should either refund you with the restore or return to your inventory. I have also had times when my client crashed but it just got sent back to my inventory.
