very similar to the propulsion cannon, but does the opposite, pulling you in instead of pushing you away. in the clip can see a lot of movement options something like this could create

I made this in 20 minutes with chatgpt, its alittle rough around the edges but i think with some polishing it has the potential of being a fun addition to encourage skill based movement

I mean yisyas is right it would just be a worse grapple, maybe it would be more interesting if it pulled people and entities in as well?

well yes, the grappling hook gave too much in return for the amount of effort put in, with this you have to put in alot more effort for a more rewarding experience

I didn't understand the grapple reference either but I think this is a cool concept and a fun filler item they could add in a future case

I believe that the grapple hook due to the crate it came out with, effectiveness, and ease of use its cost inflated naturally. it locked a basic necessity behind a wall for new players because there was no better alternative, for example slams can be used to the same effect, but require a lot higher of a skill floor to use. No matter what they cost no new player will use them as a movement tool because they don't meet the requirement. new players will never get the chance to use the good items for new players if everyone else has them. my solution to this would be to keep grapple hook disabled with suits, but allow the movement tools that require skill to still be used(like the repulsion cannon), this both rewards the player for getting better at the game, and nerfs movement overall. with that, you allow the new players to access basic utility's by lowering there cost. this allows new players to progress further in the game by helping them complete drug runs, make arrests, and run away from fights that they know they'll lose.

I think this is a super cool concept and its a shame your first response was unconstructive negativity. Would be a super fun item to use and I would guess it could be used in suits (unlike the grapple hook)?

yes that would be the idea, pvp on zarp is fast naturally so i want to encourage that ascpect of gameplay more, while not completely eliminating the ablity to play zarp with out it. I don't think thats its nearly as broken as the grapple and would be alot more fair to fight against, in turn when you die it well feel more deserved rather then feeling like you died to a broken mechanic

also zarp could use this opportunity to add another sink, make both the cannons craftable through mining, then add a way to combine them into a single weapon for money or gems, you can go even further and make only a "defective cannon" craftable through mining wich has a 50/50 chance to do either or, them upgrade that to either cannon then combine them. doing this encourages mining(wich raises server pop), lowers prices on movement nessictys, removes money from the economy, and adds a way for newer players to create wealth in a low risk environment (mining)
