Except the updates that both of those were released on required to either purchase booster packs to get the token and spin the wheel or win an event. And even then the odds to get a golden item from spinning the wheel were pretty low.
So I really don't think some random russian kid connected at the time and either won an event ( Lots of players try-harding them all day pretty much ) or decided to randomly purchase 50$ worth of booster packs.
