It's a great suggestion, but I know how it can't be exploitable.
Once you steal a printer, you have to keypad crack on it, and once you finish cracking it, it shows both your name and the original owners name. The only way for the original owner to get it back is by blowing it up (and respawning it later), or by stealing it back. If the original owner leaves, his name will still be on it, so if he rejoins he still can't respawn them, avoiding exploitation. But, if the thief leaves and comes back, the printer removes his/her name and they will have to keypad crack it again to re-own it.
