You could (or should) ask them for the kill reason, then the story from both sides, then the validity by asking the district it took place in and with which weapons. You could also ask for witnesses, there is nothing wrong with asking for their story, it's just less reliable. There are many other ways you could deal with the situations, but instead you write the lazy one.
