Time Spent in ZARP:
approx. 3 years
Age:
21
I joined ZARP approximately 3 years ago in September 2016. Back then, I was only really interested in playing TTT. I escalated to the rank of Head Admin alongside Clarky and I helped popularise the server back in the day. I had acquired a forum rank or two however I had not really branched out to other areas of the community.
After leaving the community in 2017 to focus on my job, I returned to ZARP and swiftly got back into the swing of things, acquiring staff ranks on Prophunt, TTT, Deathrun and SSRP. I have reached parts of the community I never experienced before and I have had a chance to help support and maintain the community in new ways.
Becoming Community Manager would be the ultimate goal for me. I've supported servers both as Lead Team and as Owner and now I'm ready to take up the ultimate challenge by supporting the community at a global level.
As part of my induction to my job threeyears ago, I underwent a Insights Discovery test (read about it
here). The purpose of the test is to determine your work style and strengths that would be supplied to your team.
At the core of the test, lies four colours: red, blue, green and yellow. Each represent their own work style. i.e., red means you are forward looking and a quick thinker whereas, blue means you are a keen observer and take time before you make any decisions.
To summarise the 20 page booklet I received on my profile, here are my key strengths:
- Able to deal with complex problems
- Remains calm and collected when under pressure
- Prefers a "hands on" approach to problem solving
- Painstaking; conscientious; industrious and dependable
- Always in touch with myself and with the world
- Adaptable and realistic
- Feet are 'firmly on the ground' (appropriately pessimistic)
- Pays great attention to detail
- Understands and respects underlying principles
- Diplomatic when the situation demands it
Conversely, here are some of my potential weaknesses:
- May not respond well to sudden change
- Sometimes unwilling to express even important ideas or insights
- May unintentionally hurt others with criticism
- Has difficulty completing unstructured tasks
- May jeopardise deadlines in favour of searching for accuracy
- Takes things too seriously
- Sometimes inflexible in foreign situations
- Modesty or reticence may prevent timely interventions
Finally, regarding my experience within ZARP specifically, I have held the following ranks within the community:
- Prophunt Server Owner
- Deathrun Server Owner
- SSRP Head Administrator
- TTT Head Administrator
- Teamspeak Head Admin
- Global Forum Moderator
As Community Manager, my focus will be to identify and rectify areas of the community that will make the user experience more enjoyable and intuitive. I aim to break down barriers and pave the way for a more transparent, honest and enjoyable community that people will want to be a part of.
Below is a list of my ideas thus far:
Community Council
Inspired by
this suggestion, I am determined to create and support a community-driven council that enables members of the community to collaborate and talk about community-related issues.
I see transparency and freedom of information to be a big issue in ZARP. A community-driven body such as this, I would hope, help all ZARP users (staff and non-staff alike) to portray their concerns and opinions in a more official, structured and meaningful way.
At the moment, it can be especially difficult to get all members of the CM team to hear what you have to say. The theory is that: a council like this will help build bridges between members of the community and the CM team and get us all talking about things. We should start listening and talking to you guys directly and more often as you are responsible for helping make ZARP what it is; without players, ZARP is nothing.
Pointshop Model Hitbox Review
I have already been tasked with re-hitboxing(?) all models currently available in the Pointshop. I still aim to complete this list to help make (mainly TTT) Pointshop experiences just that little bit more fun.
Lead Team Application Criteria
At the moment, there are very little minimum criteria to apply for Lead Team roles. For the most part, eligibility of Lead Team applicants is based off subjective opinion with very little objective intervention.
That being said, an admin can apply for Super Admin whenever they like, as frequently as they like; which isn't necessarily a bad thing however, following some Q&As with members of the community, we frequently see complaints arising about flaws in the Lead Team candidate selection process.
I propose to add a set of minimum criteria that, if not met, would prevent staff from applying from Lead Team roles. While I do not have a solid list of criteria at the moment, I have some suggestions (these are subject to discussion and change):
- Must have been <RANK> for at least 3 months
- Must have handled a minimum of 5 forum reports/appeals
- Must not have had a report abuse against them accepted within the last month
Bear in mind that these criteria would only supersede the subjective opinion of current Lead Team members if the applicant failed to meet any of the criteria. We still value your opinion and expect you to be able to provide a valuable, informed opinion on any potential candidates.
Forum Restructure
Currently, some areas of the forums often 'overlap' in purpose and become inefficient. The forum sections should be restructured so that topics will have more meaning and have a place to live rather than a convoluted section containing all sorts of topics that get buried under new suggestions that are posted and never really get responded to (more on that later)
Take Server Issues/Suggestions: this is essentially a heap of suggestions, both responded and unresponded to, that pile on each other in a generic section despite most of them applying to specific servers. The existence of this section, however, lets users create topics that inspire discussions to take place rather than the pinned Suggestions/Bug Report topics in Deathrun, Prophunt, TTT etc.
If we created sub-sections for each of the Garrys Mod Servers sections (Semi-Serious RP, Trouble in Terrorist Town, Deathrun etc) that would better suit sorting and creating topics, it would mean that some valuable suggestions are less likely to be lost in a mound of suggestions for other servers, furthermore, we're still keeping the aspect of prompting discussions about suggestions by letting users create topics.

Dedicated Refund Request Section
Currently, refund requests are heaped into the Server Issues/Suggestions and can sometimes be forgotten about which leaves users potentially losing out on items that are rightfully theirs. I am proposing to add a dedicated refund request section and impose a corresponding policy that will help streamline the review process of refund requests and as I currently feel they are not handled promptly enough at the moment.

Refund Request Rules & Guidelines
If you have lost item(s)/cash due to no fault of your own such as a confirmed bug or server crash then you may be eligible for a refund.
Please read the following information to see if you are eligible for a refund. Do not post a refund request if you do not meet the criteria set out below. False/fraudulent refund requests will be automatically denied and all parties involved will be subject to punishment.
Refund Request Criteria
You
ARE allowed to submit a refund request if you have lost items from either:
- A server crash or rollback and cannot retrieve your items using /restore or /restore all
- A confirmed bug
- An unexpected incident or some other server side issue, of which, you have no control over
You
ARE NOT allowed to submit a refund request if you have lost items from either:
- Misusing commands/features (buying/selling items, destroying printers, removing items etc)
- Intentionally scripted features (item-o-matic, converting to gems, disconnecting and losing printers etc)
- A player breaks a server rule that causes you to lose item(s)
All refund requests
MUST contain sufficient evidence of item(s) lost otherwise your request is subject to immediate denial.
Refund Request Template
If your situation meets the required criteria then you may post a refund request. You MUST fill out the entire template as requests that do not use the template or lack vital information will be denied.
Your topic title should follow this format:
[<SERVER>] Refund Request - <STEAM NAME>
Your topic content should follow this format:
Steam Name:
Steam ID:
Date/Time of Incident:
Item(s) Lost:
Story:
Evidence:
Additional Info:
Below is an example refund request:
[SSRP] Refund Request - John Doe
Steam Name: John Doe
Steam ID: STEAM_0:0:11101
Date/Time of Incident: 21/07/19 - approximately 19:25.
Item(s) Lost: Festive Printer
Story: I put my Festive Printer into a printer case and it disappeared
Evidence: *Picture*
Additional Info: N/A
Evidence
You MUST post images/videos to support your refund request; having other players "confirming" is not sufficient evidence however, other players may post additional evidence if applicable.
Images MUST be unedited, even minor cropping or highlighting things will render your evidence invalid. Images should also be clear enough to see exactly what's happening in the screenshot.
Chatlogs/console logs from your client will not be accepted as evidence.
New Server(s)
I believe its time for ZARP to branch out once again into new games. A while ago, I made a topic asking you guys what server you'd like to see if you could create a server of your choice.
TF2 and Rust were both very popular choices. Personally, I think Rust would be a stronger option however I'm open to try both. The reason why I'm fond of Rust is all custom addons are written in C# - of which - I luckily have a lot of experience with as it's the main working language for my job.
Or maybe TTT S2
There's a lot of stuff that needs to be done before we can look to set up new servers, but we can put this on the "future goals" list
Experimental/Legacy SSRP
This one's a bit more difficult to talk about as there is a HUGE dependancy on Chute/DEAD being available to partake in this however, I see a lot of people crying out for a "legacy" server that would basically be SSRP but back in 2016(?) which would mean less items being available for use etc.
Once my main focus points have been dealt with and we have some time to use, I hope I can contribute to making a experimental server alongside the rest of the CM team that would pretty much cover this suggestion. Not only would this, in theory, make some old players happy but it would allow someone like me, who, has never been able to experience SSRP in 2016 as I was a Pointshop Pleb.
Demote CeeZee 2
CeeZee needs to go, it's time to for me to get him demoted for a second time!
While I am open to discuss my idea(s) and candidacy, I kindly request that open-ended discussions be taken to
Steam/
Discord where we can talk in great detail without bloating my application. However, feel free to leave any general comments or opinions on this topic. Thank you for reading!
I'd also like to publicise that I will be running for Community Manager with TheXnator!
We have been working hard together to come up with plans to help with the growth and development of the community, speaking with staff members and doing some research into other community to try and uncover the underlying issues which the community has been facing, putting forth our own ideas which we feel will greatly contribute to overcoming these issues.
