It sounds like you guys were told to stop using a chat exploit and continued then were muted rightfully, he's just doing his job. Staff can punish using their judgement, if you feel the punishment was over the line or just pure out abuse you can make a report abuse or speak with a Super Admin or Higher about the situation(s).
