Estimated Server Time: About 150+ hours (Game tracker's a little off)
Languages I speak: English and the slightest bit Spanish (I got a B in Spanish GCSE).
Explain "Random Death Match" and give an example scenario. Random Death Match, also know as RDM, is where a player will 'Randomly' kill another or more players for no valid-roleplay reason. For instance, let's say a player has just logged into the server. He sees another player doing absolutely nothing wrong and the player then kills him. This is RDM as the player had no vaild-roleplay reason to kill him. Had the player been getting shot at by the other player then he would of had the right to shoot back at him and kill him.
Explain "New Life Rule" and give an example scenario. The New Life Rules states that a player may not enter or interact with a district that they had previously been killed in within 3 minutes (the districts can be found on the maps here:
and
). Once that 3 minutes is over the player may return however he/she may not acknowledge what had happened in their previously life as this is meant to be a 'New Life'. Also, if a player is killed at spawn he/she must remain AFK or exit the district through the nearest exit. For example, a player is being raided by gangsters in the Industrial district of server 1. He/she gets killed by the gangsters. If the player enters or interacts with that district within 3 minutes (which can be seen from a timer at the top) he/she will be breaking the New Life Rule. If the player waits for the 3 minutes to pass and then comes back and kills the gangsters he'll be RDMing as he/she can't acknowledge information from the previously life and so he/she would have no vaild-roleplay reason to kill them.
Explain "Metagaming" and give an example scenario. Metagaming is when a player takes an action or decision dictated/effected by external factors such as third-party software or ooc. It is also when a player does something not intended by the creator for somebody's personal benefit. A realistic scenario with this would be: Player X gets killed by Player Y. Player X then tells his best mate, Player Z, over Skype the location of Player Y; the gun Player Y has; the amount of health Player Y roughly has and orders him to kill Player Y. If Player Z then uses his knowledge of Player Y to kill him (he may sneak behind him as he knows the location of Player Y) he would be Metagaming as his actions was heavily effected by an external factor, Skype.
Explain how you would handle the following situation: Player X accuses Player Y for RDMing him, the console log shows that Player Y killed Player X.
I would bring Player X and Player Y to an isolated area on the map. I would then ask Player X to explain what happened. I would then ask Player Y if he agrees that he did RDM him. If Player Y accepts his mistake I would give him a warning for RDM and then bring them back to their initial locations. If Player Y does not accept that he RDMed Player X I would then ask Player X for proof to show that Player Y had RDMed him. By proof I would expect a link to a source (screenshot or game play footage) that shows Player Y has done the conditions required by RDM. If he provides evidence I'd do the same as if Player Y accepts. However if Player X couldn't provide evidence I would have to neglect the scenario and send them back to their initial locations with no penalties. I would then recommend Player X to use recording software to provide evidence if a similar scenario appears in the future.
Explain how you would handle the following situation: Player X accuses Player Y for breaking NLR, the kills are pretty close together in console (a few lines apart) at a peak time.
Like before, I'd bring the players to an isolated area. I'd get Player X to explain the situation further and then ask Player Y if he agrees that he broke NLR. If he does then I would warn him and send them back to their initial locations. Otherwise if he does not agree I would ask Player X of evidence to prove this. For example, footage showing less than a 3 minute gap between the deaths of Player Y. If Player X provides evidence I'd do the same as if Player Y accepts. Else, I would have to disregard the incident and send them back to their initial locations while recommending to Player X to record his gameplay.
BTW, the host of this server should really get a kills log addon (a one with times). It would help lots.
Explain how you would handle the following situation: Player X calls for help in the OOC chat because his bank is being raided
As OOC is 'Out Of Character' chat he would be Metagaming. I would bring him to an isolated area (despite the fact I know his bank would be obliterated while I'm talking to him, it's a bit mean but rules are rules) and then explain to him the rules of Metagaming and that he had broken it. I would then give him a warning and send him back to his now likely destroyed bank. He would then likely change his name to Player X: Demote Brandonhotdog. XD
Why I should be chosen (we recommend around 150 words).
I believe that I would make an excellent Moderator as I have lots of knowledge about Garry's Mod. As you can see from my profile I have over 450 hours on Garry's Mod and I know how to do practically anything on Garry's Mod, I can even program lua files and so I could help staff and Admins to improve the server. I thoroughly enjoy playing on the Zarp servers and so I would like to make sure that other players can equally enjoy the experience by protecting them from Rules Breakers. I have also finished my exams and so I can now spend large amounts of my free time helping to improve the server. I'm also a very efficient person (not German Vegan Engineer efficient but close) and so I would be able to quickly deal with F1's while the server is at its peak. Lastly, I've revised the rules of the Zarp server and so I can quickly call out errors fairly and effectively. Oh and I've also spent money on this server to get VIP which in turn provided it with a my debit card details which shows that I largely trust this server and so you should be able to largely trust me.
Thanks for reading my application, I appreciate the time you spent into analyzing this big wall of words!
