It sounds like Khaitam was trying to stop everyone yelling, if an admin tells you to do something, you need to follow it. If it's questionable or completely ridiculous, i'd suggest getting in touch with a Lead Team Member. Staff can punish at their discretion and they can ban straight up if it's deserving. The best thing to do would be to head over to the Deathrun staff list and add one of the Super Admins and get in touch with them about the situation.

You shouldn't have left and rejoined to avoid the mute, that's leaving to avoid punishment.
