I've been working with the rest of the Community Team on money sinks for quite some time now, and we have managed to come up and add some very interesting ones, such as the Police Auctions. Recently, I've given a helping hand to Xnator with the Halloween update in which you will see one of the bigger money sinks get drastically re-worked. There are also plans for another, a new one, which Chute will add throughout the following weeks/months too, which I'm sure will be fun for everyone as well as very effective.

The fact of the matter is, as Martin said, people don't like to lose money without gaining anything in return - So it's very important to come up with some way of removing money, whilst giving people something in return (mainly items), not only does this make it fair, but it also encourages people to use these features without forcefully removing their belongings or annoying them.
