It's the fact that this was the punishment voted on during the Lead Team Meeting for his actions. Sure it's about resolving the issue partly, but that's something JMT has to figure out on his own. We can't make JMT stop being racist on zarp, but what the punishment is doing is showing him that he is wrong for what he did. The demotion is the reprocussion for his racist actions.
