In your case you were a traitor, they were a traitor you killed them for saying where you were, instead you could have killed the detective/innocents whom were going to find you, Maybe if you think before you act you won't receive punishments for such things then you could have followed up by reporting the traitor whom was giving away all the info and getting them punished instead of getting yourself punished, also if the rules are so shitty and weird why don't you just go find another community? No one is forcing you too stay.
