Ok.
I understand that i have not been clear enough on my position.
So i am writing this to hopefully make it clear.
I understand that this change would cause the map to change; whether that is the map changes name to a different version say.
ttt_minecraft_b6 and that this would drive new players away; because they are familiar with the map name
ttt_minecraft_b5.
Or in the way of a completely new map file, that would cause other problems. (assuming no map name change)
I am not for going through with this suggestion, if this would negativly affect the server.
As someone who knows practically doesn't know anything about updating maps on a behind the scenes server-administration level. I just assumed that you could 'save' the change, without
actually changing the name of the map.
Although, here i go again.
Again, as someone who doesn't know alot. And the following is anecdotal:
The only 'real' change is:
side
{
"id" "0"
"plane" "(X Y Z) (X Y Z) (X Y Z)"
"smoothing_groups" "0"
"material" "tools/toolsnodraw" ->
"material" "MINECRAFT/PLANKS"
"uaxis" "[0 0 0 0] 0"
"vaxis" "[0 0 0 0] 0"
"lightmapscale" "0"
}
And as mellow said:
What if the changes are made and the map remains with the same name?
Do we really need to tell the players?
(intentionally leaving out:
Or will it just tell people that their map differs from the server instead of re-downloading it?
)
it won't be called B5.. People search for the exact map name. With it being edited it will be called something else. Unfortunately it cant be changed without the map name being changed (afaik)
