I feel like the exploiting itself doesn't need to be held against you. The actions have been reversed and if it wasn't you who found it/abused it, it would've been someone else. I don't quite get why you didn't tell Xnator but you told others so I don't see much of a reason for being permanently banned beside insulting someone (which I basically never think should be a case for permanent bans).
