During the weeks before your demotion, it's true that you didn't do too much. But you still did your weekly rota and from what I remember you were helping out in LT discussions etc. For the week you were actually demoted, as you said you played almost every day and you did your LT duties.

I don't see why you were demoted and I think you should have been given more notice, telling you that you would be demoted if you didn't go above and beyond that week, even that I'd say is unfair. I'm drunk and can't type but in conclusion:
