Regardless of if you were inactive or not you should be told exactly why you're up for demotion, before you're being demoted so that you and the people above you (rank wise) can come to some sort of conclusion on how to deal with this, and if this didn't happen that's quite frankly pathetic and insulting to someone that put so much effort in like yourself, especially when you have a busy life style and still find ways to come on and do your duties.
