How can a Thundergun have an unfair advantage on a game by just adding a different skin? I have a feeling that this topic is just unnecessary drama...

I would like to know what this advantage can be...

Due to the colour and the vibrance and shade of it. It made the thunder gun model a lot easier on the eyes and also made it easier to spot from other items such as a variety of smoked and also easier to spot at bigger distances due to it being a very unique colour compared to it's rather bland default colours meaning he has an advantage over other players as due to him being able to spot the gun more frequently due to its colour he was able to let's say arrest someone for an illegal gun based solely on the colour rather than the gun itself
Totally correct. That is violating 1.5 Client-Side Modification & Hacking ~ General conduct rules.
Any form of hacking, scripting, cheating or malicious client modification is not allowed on our servers. You are also not allowed to draw textures on your client.
Users may modify files to make their game look more unique but abusing this opportunity to create unfair advantages is strictly prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to: modifying the juggernaut suit model to be a bright color so it is easier to see through particle effects or removing the smoke/fire particle effects from the thundergun explosion.
But the rule has been changed 1 month ago tho, nobody keeps track on the rules

While that may be true, you're also expected to know the laws in your country, even if they change. Claiming not to know a law / rule due to recent change or no interest in keeping track of the law / rule is no valid defense for breaking said law / rule.
